They’re 5 & 8, perfectly healthy kids.

Until they get measles

We vaccinate selectively and do include MMR and DTaP.

Until they are exposed to measles.

They’re perfectly healthy bc most people vaccinate their kids and prevent yours from catching all of the deadly diseases that would make them not “perfectly healthy.”

You’re a disgusting jerk.

That’s heartbreaking- that poor boy. No, I wouldn’t let my kids near him, he could get sick and die, and it will be traumatic for them. It’s abusive to subject this child to unnecessary suffering. How sad.

Some doctors just don’t follow science.

Because they've been protected by herd immunity.

The thing that I couldn't wrap my head around when I epsrned about was SSPE. For a solid two decades, usually 8 years, after having measles, a rare but very real complication is that the kid will develop a fatal degenerative brain disorder. It is slow, horrible and it is 100% fatal. Yes, it's rare (for infants under 15 months about 1 in 600), but, just how, how could anyone risk the absolute worst case scenario for their kid. It's just about the worst way for a kid to die.

You are an idiot. There is no vaccinating selectively there is using your brain understanding science and caring about your kids. Screw off you are too stupid to have children.

Arrgh.

While I certainly do not in any way agree with non vaxers- the truth is that your kids are likely exposed to non vaxed or under vaccinated kids regularly. And have decent vax protection themselves, at their ages.

I’d try not to rock the boat- to the degree possible, and hope the parents come to their senses. If you didn’t know his vax status, then I’m guessing you are not close enough with them to offer any input (at least not any they would consider).

I’d avoid having them as overnight guests or staying overnight in the same house. But seems unrealistic to not see them at all. You’ll have to decide how to navigate-occasion by occasion.

Now if you were to have another baby…..yikes. I personally would not want my unprotected infant around unvaccinated children at all. Really no realistic compromise available there.

Sorry that you are dealing with this!

Let me make myself clear if you don't vaccinate your kids your are not only stupid you should have your children removed from your home.

Herd immunity is a thing.

Why the hell did you have children if you are that dumb? Why did you have children and not want to protect them when you can?

People who do not vaccinate are not good parents or good humans and they are fools.

Are they now considered part of a new rising cult not unlike those parents who watch their children die because they believe more in their faith than in medical intervention?
