This one is a test of the ages, definitely. Bardot’s career was on the downside when I was a young child in the 1970s - apparently by her own choice - and she was replaced by Bo Derek and Farah Fawcett on the bedroom walls of most American boys in the 70s and 80s. I’m not at all surprised that she isn’t known by the vast majority of younger people posting here and existing elsewhere on social media.
She’ll always be well known in France for obvious reasons. I laud her animal rights activism, it was a very worthy cause to which to lend her fame. I’m very sad to know she became a right wing political voice, or maybe always held those attitudes but let them define her so publicly in her elder years. She was so lovely in her youth and then she came to embody the stereotypes of women getting ugly with aging - by which I mean the spew from her mouth and not the wrinkles around it. |
The funny thing is I am kind of old ,57. My mom (82) knew who she was. |
So, not very cultured. |
DP. I honestly can't believe this. I'm 57 too. Are you trolling? |

I think she might be one of the most beautiful ever. What's remarkable is that her look seemed ahead of it's time. She didn't have the short, curly hair that most women did during her era. She was attractive in a way that is considered attractive now. |
She was much more attractive than Deneuve. |
It's this. I am 40 and of course I know who Bridget Bardot is. You have to have massive gaps in popular culture knowledge to not. Like, even reading 17 magazine on hair you should have picked up this reference. JFC. |
To me, Deneuve was like Grace Kelly. Classically beautiful with refined features. Bardot was beautiful in a curvy, sensual, joyful, adorable way; and she was a great dancer along with her beautiful figure. |
Deneuve is still with us! |
She was sexier than Deneuve. Both were very beautiful women. Deneuve certainly aged better. |
Okay it's tomorrow so let's recap what got deleted. Bardot was a vile racist, Islamophobe, and homophobe who was fined 6 times by the French government for inciting racial hatred. She abandoned her son and continued to make cruel statements about hating her child for decades. She was a garbage person. Good riddance to bad rubbish. |
Yes, but her youthful looks have clearly departed. |
|
I'm French. She was definitely an icon for most of her life, marred by the fact that she made Islamophobic comments and other inappropriate remarks in her old age. RIP.

| A legend. RIP. |
