I'd probably do the Seattle area for a while because my sister and several close friends live there, and it is beautiful.

I don't really want to move anywhere where I don't know people.

Is time zone a factor? The West Coast has a bunch of places that are appealing, but as a Night Owl daily 6am calls would be rough so I would have to take that into consideration.

Northern California. Marin county or Carmel, CA.

Key West.

My co has an office on the west coast so I could work PT hours other than one standing all hands call a week that I’d need to be on at 6:30.

Good suggestions. We’re planning to retire a 90-minute train ride south of OP, in one of the Monmouth County shore towns, but are eying Puerto Rico and maybe New Orleans, Charleston or Savannah for January-February.

New Orleans is cold & damp during January & February.

Fellow NYer here, and I think I would rent a historic home in another city. I'm a history dork, I love old houses, and it would be fun to spend my free time wandering around and learning about another place's past and role in the US's founding.

Philadelphia particularly appeals. I've lived there before, visit often, and I'm always struck by how much the past still feels present there. Other places I'd consider are Charleston, Savannah, and New Orleans.

Interesting! These are all good choices! I’m also slightly obsessed with Mexico City and Columbia right now (I have two digital nomad friends who spend time in these places) but I don’t think my work would allow it for more than a few days.

I’d check out Santa Fe or Taos, NM for a little bit. I’ve actually never been, but the southwest (and small towns/cities) are things that I haven’t really experienced (besides a vacation to the Grand Canyon and Sedona). I’d probably end up doing a lot of driving in my free time to visit Chaco national historic parks and the national parks in southwest Colorado. Depending on your work schedule the time zone change could be a challenge.
