You are letting him in your head, that is what he wants. Fed jobs are still very secure and have excellent benefits. This is just mind games and you shouldn’t fall for it.

Administration hints furloughed workers may not be paid after shutdown

The Trump administration is sending notifications to federal staff suggesting only those who are working during the government shutdown will be paid when it ends, despite a 2019 law that guarantees pay to furloughed employees, too.

“Once an appropriation or continuing resolution is enacted, excepted employees are entitled to receive payment,” read one message sent to some portions of the government and obtained by The Washington Post. That sentence — which leaves out furloughed workers — was not included in the first furlough notice issued last month, according to an employee who, like others interviewed, spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.

If he does air traffic will completely shut down with in an hour of the EO.

The new hint Trump has is a hint of desperation.

I don’t think it’s a bluff or some performance act here. Trump and his minions mean every damn word they say. They don’t care about the law.

There are laws saying the contrary. Even the Supreme Court will reject an obvious violation of the law.

You have far more faith in the current court than I.

Most of the Feds I know are operating under the assumption that they will eventually be paid. But there's been enough coverage in the news of how Trump doesn't want that to occur. Today's story is just the latest.

I'm surprised they haven't already quit. Working for pay long hours in a stressful job with no end to the shutdown in sight. It's like slavery 2025 version.

Add Duffy to that. Claims of total chaos in the skies if the shutdown doesn’t end soon!

And? Trump can say whatever he wants. There will be hell on both sides if they don’t pay. I can’t imagine the politicians in PA, TX, FL and others are ok with their Fed employees not getting paid.

No, I haven't been operating under this assumption at all. I have been working towards a new certification and applying for other jobs. They want a lot of attrition, and if the labor market were better, more of us would be gone. There is little else I can do.

Unless you are on DRP. They have to pay those folks regardless.

My answer to the morale question is this: if they want to be transactional, I can do that too. I love the purpose that my fed job has in doing something that betters this country and benefits humanity. I used to work 60hr/week on it, but tapered down to about 50hr/week and have a side gig job. I can tamp down to 40hr/week and walk away from the extra government work to spend more time on the private work. My side gig billing rate equates to $400K/yr, more than twice what the government pays me. I’m happy to give the government the extra benefit of my work but only insofar as the government shows that it values me.

Also what is going to happen to our health insurance? How are they going to get paid if we don't get backpay?

This administration doesn't give two shits.

Trump sees the US Treasury as his own bank account. Congress will not enforce anything Republicans are Congress. SCOTUS won't either so here we are Feds will never be paid.

If you believe they will you have not paid attention to the words of Peter Theil, Vought, Miller, and Trump. Shame on anyone who did not read Project 2025 and Theils writings before Trump was elected.

I could care less if the government values what I do, and this administration has made it clear they do not, because I know that the people I serve value what I do.
