Depends on the issue. If you’re left leaning about everything except you believe women shouldn’t be able to vote, you’re not moderate. One out-there stance can be enough to move you out of moderate territory.

'm #2 also, I think the country still was and still is slightly right of center leaning.
Of course Gen Z is the future and they seem more willing to accept socialism.

I'm doing nothing of the sort. There was already a thread on this and everyone on that thread who claimed to be moderate were MAGA when they started to share opinions and date. Don't blame me, blame the people who believe they're moderate.

Now there's ANOTHER thread in politics on this. A lot of handwringing lately. I think it's a good thing because right now people need to decide on what side of history do they stand.

Mancin is a moderate but completely out of synch with his own party's views.
Same as Mitt Romney, a very decent chap in his party

I agree with you but where I differ is that the current "conservative" that embraces "nazism" and racism and other "i-sms" basically don't want equal rights for all. and I cannot compromise on value that is supposed to be foundational to our country. I am not interested in compromising with racists etc.

Democrat Senate primary in Maine has a first or second place finish by a Nazi, though he did paint over his tattoo when revealed.
