Husband drinks two, sometimes three, bottles of Michelob Ultra EVERY night

I don't get why he can't get wine. My husband doesn't drink it, but he still buys me my own bottle.

No, he’s not an alcoholic.

People responding that he is are just children of alcoholics and they have severe trauma and extremely sensitive to any alcohol consumption

I'm sorry, but this board is absolutely insane on alcohol consumption.

People are suggesting al-alon for a guy who drinks two or 3 mich ultras??!?!

My word.

This is a tragedy. Get the man some real beer or get him to switch to bourbon.

Michelob Ultra? Blech. Goat piss.

He claims it's basically a diet beer and doesn't even give him a buzzy intoxicated feeling. He says he'd prefer to unwind and drink wine with dinner but I do not consume alcohol, so he buys this specific diet beer instead. By the end of every week there's a bag full of nearly 20 beer bottles and it makes me feel like he has a problem.

Google
Michelob Ultra has an Alcohol By Volume (ABV) of 4.2%. 95 calories and 2.6 grams of carbs per 12 oz. serving.

The few times my friends and I drank that in college we stuck to high heaven the next day. That would be my biggest concern.

These two statements are incompatible. He doesn't get intoxicated (so he says) but he wants to unwind and drink wine but doesn't because you do. He wants to get buzzed, so he does. Yes, it would bother me. Any kind of habitual drinking would bother me. I drink, but not every day, maybe once a month, and I never feel like I "need" it. Your husband needs it.

In any case, it is a lot, though is still considered moderate drinking, but healthwise even low amounts of alcohol affect not just the liver, but also the brain, gut, pancreas, lungs, cardiovascular system, immune system, and more. So no to al anon, but yes to having him do some reading up on his health risks.

If there are 20 bottles at the end of the week, it's 3 6 days a week and 2 1 day.

Yeah and what's the difference between drinking beer when OP doesn't drink and drinking wine when OP doesn't drink?

The difference appears to be that OP's husband thinks he's not drinking alcohol, which is ridiculous.

That's a lot of alcohol due to the fact that it's being consumed on a daily basis. Have him tell his doctor that it's not a problem.

Every single day? Yeah, that's a problem. Anyone drinking 365 days a year has a problem.

If he’s drinking that much every day, why doesn’t he buy what he really wants to drink? It’s not like an open bottle of wine would languish for long in his household.

Why would OP suggest her DH move to a higher alcohol content beverage in a bigger bottle? That makes no sense.

Wow, you're some kind of math savant!

Ultra is not drinking

High noon is about the same. What if you drank 3 a night? THat's an alcoholic.

He’s 100% getting a buzz and I assume 2 bottles led to 3 as he built up a tolerance over time and chases a buzz.

End of the day it’s just not healthy. It’s like eating 300 calories of junk food every night, x300 plus nights a year.

To offset that he’d have to jog a 5K every day.
