Husband drinks two, sometimes three, bottles of Michelob Ultra EVERY night

Would this worry you? He says he chooses this variety because it's healthier than soda or some other sweet treat. He claims it's basically a diet beer and doesn't even give him a buzzy intoxicated feeling. He says he'd prefer to unwind and drink wine with dinner but I do not consume alcohol, so he buys this specific diet beer instead. By the end of every week there's a bag full of nearly 20 beer bottles and it makes me feel like he has a problem.

Moderate drinking for men is generally defined as 2 per day or 14 per week. For beer that is a 12 oz beer at 5%APV. So technically he can have a little more than 2 light beers per night and still be considered a moderate drinker. So the question is how often is it 3, not 2?

In any case, it is a lot, though is still considered moderate drinking, but healthwise even low amounts of alcohol affect not just the liver, but also the brain, gut, pancreas, lungs, cardiovascular system, immune system, and more. So no to al anon, but yes to having him do some reading up on his health risks.

He’s not an alcoholic. Probably something he did when he was younger and he enjoys it. You don’t drink - you’re kind’ve square.

I drink wine, beer, what evs… I’m an adult in my own home, cooking, listening to music, hanging out with the family. I don’t drink and drive, and not falling down drunk. Life’s short, live a little…

That doesn’t sound crazy-high to me, and I don’t drink. Probably above average, but definitely not alcoholic range.
