National Portrait Gallery

MAGA wants to lead something like the Chinese Cultural Revolution of 1967. If you are well educated and have specialized expertise, you are bourgeoisie and must be disposed and sent to work in the fields. It’s really disgusting, and of course this attitude set back China’s economic and cultural progress by at least a decade.

On Friday, the president posted on Truth Social that he was firing her. However, the president has no authority to fire the director of the Portrait Gallery. I have looked but have seen no official confirmation or response or rejection of the firing.

Who is the current director of the Portrait Gallery right now?

Finally, a cause worthy of enormous protests & nationwide disruptive civil disobedience. All we need is a naked Will Ferrell to lead us all down to the quad.

A decade? They are just recovering from it now.

Ms Sajet is the poster child for what is wrong with government funding of Smithsonian. wealthy elite living on taxpayer funding? Should a mom with 2 kids be funding her playtime at the Smithsonian?

who can afford these types of degrees, an independently wealthy young adult. not me or anyone I know.

She has earned a doctorate in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in art history from Bryn Mawr College, a master’s degree in business administration from Melbourne University Business School in Australia, a bachelor’s degree in art history from Melbourne University, and a graduate diploma in Museum studies from Deakin University in Australia. She has completed arts leadership training at the Harvard Business School, the Getty Institute and National Arts Strategies.

Replace her with a US citizen from a state school. get some diversity in there.

Um, perhaps you haven't noticed that most of the cabinet members are billionaires? White male billionaires? Let's get some diversity in there!

Those are qualifications.

So, let me get this straight... you want her replaced with someone who doesn't have the same qualifications but who is American? So you want merit ignored and hiring to instead focus on diversity. You do you know that you're asking for DEI, right? That's DEI.

You would have to know why she was replaced to say whether it is DEI or not.

She might have said or done something that became a shot across the bow. I don't know what.

But regarding the position she occupied, is that in the executive branch?

Are you complaining because she's qualified?

Clearly the federal government should not be funding the Portrait Gallery. She is able to raise money. let the rich support this.

What could possibly go wrong with letting the rich elite decide what is art and where to put it.

yes what could possibly go wrong with trained art historians and curators? We should let Mama June lead the Smithsonian. or maybe just sell it to Cedar Point - they are tearing down the Largo 6 Flags so they could just put a new one on the mall and tear down the museums or turn them into dark rides.

Good.

I think that what we have learned is that you just ignore the tantrums. If they try to escalate, you fight. In almost every case where the person just have in it got worse. If you fight Trump almost always loses.
