Bono tries to educate Joe Rogan

Checks notes, he appears to have grown up in or very near a conflict zone. Carry on.

Joe Rogan makes it his life’s mission to make money off of ignorant bigoted statements. That is what he used his platform for.

This is what Bono chose to do with his: https://www.one.org/us/person/bono/

So it benefits Bono to push unfounded claims of death and despair?

Bono has been part of charities for decades, including Band Aid, a group that American artists tried to emulate.

Joe Rogan is a self involved idiot who makes money off the stupidity of Americans.

Bono is a good person who has long been a champion of international charities supporting war torn and impoverished areas. Rogan is a conspiracy theorist. Pick your side.

Just looked up the interview and listened a bit. Very interesting character. I found it odd that there were a bunch of AI-generated criticisms of Bono in the comments (often with similar language). Why/ who does this and what's the point?

You do know that leaders from USAID and adjacent agencies and NGOs formed a task force two years ago to address the grift of USAID, right? That there is a fraud associated with USAID is not even up for debate. This is a long-known issue. The problem is how to deal with it, and it seems people are not happy with just scrapping and starting over. But the fact remains, there was much fraud happening with those funds. Perhaps it's just a necessary evil, but acknowledging doesn't make someone an "ape."

The US has given billions over the years. The problem is: where has the billions gone?

Bono is charitable and has raised lots of money and likely given a lot. However, he is worth $700 million according to searches. I'd think $100 million could be quite helpful in Africa Aids help. Question is--are those in need getting the help or is it lining pockets of the distributors?

If the USAID funds were actually helping without massive fraud, this argument would be quite different.

lol! Transfixed by celebrities - says the person mindlessly following a reality tv personality.

Regardless of his music, Bono is a humanitarian and has put decades of effort into that work. There are certain people who recognize they can use their recognition to help others have better lives. Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Audrey Hepburn, Dolly Parton. I have no clue why it’s so triggering to people that some people want to use their good fortune to help the less fortunate.

A leader in Jubilee 2000’s Drop the Debt campaign, he next took on the fight against HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty, co-founding sister organizations ONE and (RED). With ONE, Bono has lobbied heads of state and legislatures all around the world, helping to ensure the passage of global health and development programs, such as the U.S. PEPFAR AIDS program that alone has saved more than 25 million lives over the past 20 years. (RED)—which partners with companies to raise public awareness about, and corporate contributions for, the AIDS crisis—has to date generated more than $750 million for the Global Fund to treat and prevent AIDS in Africa.
Bono is also a cofounder of the Rise Fund, a global impact fund investing in entrepreneurial companies driving positive social and environmental change in alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

That is admirable. But, that does not change the fact that the USAID funds have been subject to massive fraud.

You'd think with all the money given to AIDS Africa that it would be over by now. Ask yourself why it isn't.

For the posters claiming "massive" fraud of USAID funds, what are the numbers? What is the evidence?

Nice cut and paste.

Joe Rogan is an idiot. He should never have the platform.

People still pay thousands to go to see Bono (U2). I don't think anyone would pay $50 to go see Joe Rogan.

Don’t be so sure about that. His Austin club is sold out nightly.

Joe Rogan is in the same age category. So what’s your point there?
