Why do you immediately doubt someone just because their post doesn't fit your narrative? It takes several seconds to google the story. Just google "Digital Equity Act" and you will see articles on this topic from left and right. I'm a "lib" and when I see some headline coming from someone on the right that I question, I immediately fact check it. I often learn something new. Americans are in news silos so do yourself a favor and try to get your news from a variety of sources. Above all, try to fact check when something doesn't seem right to you. |
This just shows MAGA’s racism. They see the word “equity” and immediately think it has to do with poor black/brown people. They don’t realize that equity also applies to poor white folks. They are blinded by their hate and racism. Sad. |
Doesn't matter. Want high speed internet, pay for it. I'm all outta cares at this point. You are not entitled. Now, end the Obama phones next. |
This is why the world is starting to laugh at us. Trump spends MILLIONS to play golf every week, but we can't provide basic services. Let them eat cake! Unbelievable how far we've fallen. |
It made sense to subsidize this when rural residents were farming and stuff like that. It makes no sense when rural residents just commute into an urban area to work. We shouldn't be encouraging "trans-rurality." |
Sometimes inequity results in lack of equal protection. In 2020, my department was temporarily assigned to assist Oklahoma UI. I spoke to many UI applicants living in rural areas. It became apparent that internet access in some rural areas of OK is both expensive and terrible, so that they could not meet online application and reporting requirements reliably. Lack of accessible, reliable internet has a huge impact on access to government agencies. |
They don't care...keep those poor white voters stupid that is the plan. |
FWIW, assistance with phone services started long before Obama. I knew a woman who lived in dire poverty who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. During a summer stretch where she had no phone she was unable to schedule or reschedule chemo appointments or find childcare. Ultimately a welfare check found her basically incapacitated due to pain (she had compression fractures in her spine where the cancer had spread) and was taken to the hospital. Maybe we should institute tolls on all public roads and charge to use libraries. You want to read books, pay for it. |
Yes, this was the same story with electricity. The government often steps in when it is not economically advantageous for private industry to provide services. This is why I’m stunned that rural America co-signs the GOP/Heritage Foundation’s plan to minimize the federal government. They would be sitting in the f**ing dark had it not been for the federal government! Private industry is only about money and profit. |
Please get some sleep Elon / DOGE staff / Vlad. Your comebacks are getting lame. It's obvious you don't care about poor white people anymore that you care about black or Hispanic people. |
No it is your racism that is showing. Living in the DMV the poor people are primarily black and brown. But those living in the dreaded flyover states see only poor white people. They know exactly who are getting the handouts. |
Wut? |
Jerks like the PP think they deserve it. Jerks like PP think they are special and will be immune to all of the negative impacts of Trump. Who knows, maybe they will. And they won't give two figs who gets hurt. Soulless jerk. |
Since there won’t be government agencies anymore, I suppose this won’t matter. |
OP you are in urgent need to diversify your news source.
