We're back to Equal Protection Under the Law.

Good.

Sometimes inequity results in lack of equal protection.

In 2020, my department was temporarily assigned to assist Oklahoma UI. I spoke to many UI applicants living in rural areas. It became apparent that internet access in some rural areas of OK is both expensive and terrible, so that they could not meet online application and reporting requirements reliably. Lack of accessible, reliable internet has a huge impact on access to government agencies.

The more government does, the worse things get.

Fire the government. Privatize it all.

You're just bitter after 8 years of the US having terrible leadership at that top. We'll elect a real POTUS again one day and you'll find that government can be a beneficial element of society when there is appropriate leadership at the top.

WUT?

It was Biden that spent BILLIONS of tax payers dollars on an internet project that connected ZERO people.

"In 2021, the Biden Administration passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which included a provision to give $42.5 billion to the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program to provide under-served and rural areas with internet access. To date, it has connected nobody."

You build the spine first and then make all of the local connections. Did you think this happens overnight? gotta get the put out the RFP's, then weigh the different bids, make the awards, then once in, sign the contracts and then each of the individual awardees has to apply for permits, which can take 6-12 months.

Hey genius, the money was allotted, but it hasn't been spent of the work hasn't been done.

The bill was passed in 2021. It is now 2025. How many are connected?

He's screwing all of us but screwing MAGAS is the only thing he's doing that makes me happy about him.

Two points

1) the BEAD money is being held up by the Trump Commerce Department as they try and figure out how to funnel more of it to Starlink (SpaceX’s service) despite its inferior service. The process is long to protect against waste fraud and abuse, AND they should have done it faster. It was, however, on the cusp of shovels in the ground when Trump’s Commerce Department brought it to a screeching halt.

2) the funding at issue in this reflexive effort to delete anything with equity in the title was actually a program for devices and training for rural and other underserved areas.

And is against elite education too.

Keep ‘em dumb, unconnected and loyal.

No it is your racism that is showing. Living in the DMV the poor people are primarily black and brown.

But those living in the dreaded flyover states see only poor white people. They know exactly who are getting the handouts.

You are not making sense. There are plenty of poor white people in the DMV. There have always been poor white people in this area, but they just get pushed further out into the exurbs. I’m old enough to rennet when Crofton, Jessup, and Manassas is where the poor whites migrated in their attempt to get away from poor Blacks. You have on blinders.

Exurbs are usually prosperous. They’re not where the “poor white people” live.

Mom lived in a waterfront community in Wicomico County Maryland. The Internet was almost like dial up. It was so slow and it was very intermittent.
Neither the Biden administration, nor the state of Maryland did anything to help Internet connectivity in rural parts of Maryland.

But we got 8 EV charging stations for several billion dollars. That's a win, right?
