Articles of Impeachment

McConnell is regretting his decision. Thune is no McConnell but he's not an idiot. I doubt anything will come of this but as things continue to deteriorate, this time might be different.

Trump is breaking all sorts of norms and rules (and laws). He's the first to do many things. Maybe he'll be the first president to be impeached and removed.

Thune is a traitor who kisses trump's arse every time he sees him. All Republican House and Senators are traitors and they should be tried for treason and face a firing squad.

Exactly. Nobody is getting impeached unless the Democrats get both the House and Senate back, and even then they’d be better off just stonewalling him until 2028.

It’s less about impeachment and more about forcing the votes. Forcing people to go on record. Forcing people to voice their support for this administration. Forcing members of the administration to testify.

It’s easy to do nothing, but how many republicans will be willing to go on record? It’s all evidence for the courts later, or at the very least, evidence for when elections come around again.

Yeah, right

It is way past time for the press to do their jobs and report the truth about this administration and every GOP member of Congress and their oath of health to trump and their complicity in trashing the Constitution of the US to which every one of these Quislings swore to defend against enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC. They are enablers of trump.

These traitors need to be reminded that their jobs are not for life but their oath of office is a sacred trust.

Is there really any moron here who thinks this will work????? Have you learned nothing from recent history?

I understand Democrats are rightfully criticized for not doing much, and that they want to get this action in the official record...

... but don't imagine for a minute that Trump will actually suffer from any consequence. On the contrary, I am sure that faced with a admonishment from the left, a critical mass of Republicans will stand with Trump. LIKE THEY HAVE DONE EVERY OTHER TIME.

So Democrats shouldn’t attempt to do the right thing because Republicans will definitely do the wrong thing? Trump’s not planning on leaving office on January 20, 2029. When future historians write about this time in American history (if they are permitted to publish truthful accounts of it), it would be nice if they could list examples of patriots at least attempting to rein in Trump. Our founders would be appalled at our letting go of the Constitution and rule of law with both hands.

Republicans are scared, insecure men with no balls.

Lindsay Graham posted on X that Trump should be the next Pope. I wish I were kidding.

This is a waste of time. Democrats need to find a charismatic leader first. Then that leader needs to offer a PROPOSITION for the future, not OPPOSITION to the present.

Sure, an American equivalent to Novalny would be tremendously helpful, but we can’t just fail to mount any opposition until the odds are in our favor.

They need to follow it up with Vance and Johnson, otherwise not much will change. Everybody hates Vance, and Johnson is a basic beta boy sycophant.

I could live with Johnson. He is not anywhere near as evil as trump or vance.

It’s not a waste of time at all. It’s getting everything on record for when the trials come.

Can someone help me understand impeachment? Or tell me if my understanding is correct, please?

I was not alive for the Clinton impeachment, so the only experience I have with Presidents being impeached is Trump, and well, nothing comes from it, soooo.

Here's my understanding: articles of impeachment are brought forward, there's a House vote & if passed, it goes to the Senate & if passed, the President goes on trial by the SCOTUS who must find the President guilty to get him removed. Is that correct?

So, is bringing forth articles of impeachment simply a way to get an * or new section on your Wiki page that you tried to do something to stop the madness? Because Republicans control the House & Senate, so obviously it'll never pass.

I know it is probably my youth, but the word impeachment is used so much these days that it means nothing. He's been impeached twice, so what's it matter if he gets impeached a third time, ya know?

Yup. I understand some Democrats are trying to officially record their disapproval for the history books. That is important, for future generations' edification.

But it's an abstract exercise. It won't bring about a removal from office.
