i hope Harvard collapses and becomes a cautionary tale for academic institutions that think they are not constrained by the Constitution when they take government money and enjoy tax exempt status.

So tying conformity of freedom of speech to academic research is just ducky in trumpworld? What happened to the First Amendment and let everyone say whatever they want?

You all are such blazing hypocrites, it is truly unbelievable.

I'm not a fan of trump but the woke nonsense is a large part of the reason why he won. If I lost to a clown like trump, I would engage in some self reflection instead of continuing to ostracize people by accusing them of being trump loyalists.

When you are selecting authors based on race, that is racial discrimination. If they were discriminating against URM instead of in favor of them, you would be calling for heads to roll. Does that make you a hypocrite?

the "woke nonsense" is mostly manufactured right wing BS.

LOL. Harvard was here before this country even existed. It will be just fine.

If it loses tax exempt status it is gone in a generation.

It won’t, though. But do keep dreaming. Maybe churches will be next.

It can. It takes one signature from one official at the IRS. It would be unusual but if you think we are in a business as usual environment, then you haven't been paying attention.

Go for it, but remember: what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Harvard has its issues, but the rest of the world is looking at us like, "WTF?! Why would any country willfully destroy an asset like Harvard?" It's like when the Taliban blew up the Buddhas of Bamiyan to satisfy their fundamental ideology. MAGA has become no different in their glee to destroy everything they don't like or don't understand.

MAGA is also like a religious cult, complete with its own charismatic leader.

Actually it is and it is a problem. MAGA won on getting rid of woke DEI expenditures in the federal government and it turns out that was not much at all. I work at an agency where in the search for eliminating DEI they had to put on admin leave all the people that were responsible for managing all accommodation requests for, you know, blind people. Maybe 10% of the work time was spent doing monthly affinity events for all kinds of groups from AA history, to veterans to Asian Americans. Oh, and they did anti bias training that was pretty much about making sure the economists don’t just hire male economists because they look like them.

It is an answer in search of a problem. That is the actual truth. Sad they are such a bunch of Dumbfu(€$.

On one rightwing news site there was an interesting sort of freudian slip:
Apparently since 2018 there has been only one white male to write the forward to the Supreme Court issue of the review. One black man and the rest "women of color." The it says this is a drastic departure from 1995-2017 when the forward was written by almost entirely white men.

What clearer way to say what you think an unbiased world looks like?

I'm not saying that efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion don't ever lapse into ridiculousness. At the same time, in the past 20 years I've felt blessed to discover--for example--the writings of non-white writers from all over the world appearing in the marketplace. What I know of the world has expanded immeasurably. There may even be an argument for over-correction (if that's what it is).

One of the examples the announcement (which was written in a very confusing manner, it actually took reading the rw site to understand the details of what turned out to be separate "incidents") cited was a rush review for a minority author. But the rw site added the detail from the communications that said author had an offer to publish their paper from another university, so they needed to jump on it. The announcement makes it sound like the motive was to make it a done deal (kind of like a certain deportation event) so nobody could object, but that seems not to be the case.

None of the groups got denied.
My personal experience with liberal 501c3 organizations is that they have been scrupulous about the rules pertaining to politics. But I knew this guy who was treasurer of the state Tea Party organization and he asked me in all seriousness if it would be that terrible if he "borrowed" money from their treasury when he was hurting for money (turns out that posturing before rich Republicans has a price tag).

Would you STFU with your "self reflection" nonsense. Allowing someone other than a white author to publish doesn't equal racism. You are so disgusting with your assumption that no one other than white men could possibly have merit. GTFO of here.

Someone knows zero about exempt orgs. It takes an investigation and audit. Then findings by the IRS. Then a provisional revocation. Then years of litigation.

Harvard is a hedge fund that pretends to be a university. Not surprised how they behave.

Glad to hear that Harvard doesn't base admissions, job offerings, speaker invitations, etc with one's race as a consideration--only merit.
