HHS investigation of Harvard Law Review

Anonymous
I get these notifications in my email but it's also on their website: https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/hhs-ed-title-vi-investigation-harvard-law-review.html

Has to do with handling of an article written by a minority person about police reform.

“Harvard Law Review’s article selection process appears to pick winners and losers on the basis of race, employing a spoils system in which the race of the legal scholar is as, if not more, important than the merit of the submission,” said Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor.

The glaring issue here is that they just launched the investigation but they are touting conclusions right off the bat.

I have dealt with HHS discrimination complaint filings before. They never decide the result at the beginning.

These current acting people seem to have missed the memo that they are mere placeholders until, or if, confirmed. SMH

To be fair, Harvard law review is one of the publications trying to create a body of minority authors authored articles so that we don't have to elevate apparently unequaled "scholars" like Claudine Gay

I hope Harvard (again) tells them go sit and spin. Enough of this crap.

i hope Harvard collapses and becomes a cautionary tale for academic institutions that think they are not constrained by the Constitution when they take government money and enjoy tax exempt status.

If it loses tax exempt status it is gone in a generation.

So tying conformity of freedom of speech to academic research is just ducky in trumpworld? What happened to the First Amendment and let everyone say whatever they want?

You all are such blazing hypocrites, it is truly unbelievable.

It won’t, though. But do keep dreaming. Maybe churches will be next.

I am not MAGA but I would be thrilled if my kid went to Harvard at the same time I want Harvard and places like it to be destroyed for their racism

I'm not a fan of trump but the woke nonsense is a large part of the reason why he won. If I lost to a clown like trump, I would engage in some self reflection instead of continuing to ostracize people by accusing them of being trump loyalists.

When you are selecting authors based on race, that is racial discrimination. If they were discriminating against URM instead of in favor of them, you would be calling for heads to roll. Does that make you a hypocrite?

It can. It takes one signature from one official at the IRS. It would be unusual but if you think we are in a business as usual environment, then you haven't been paying attention.
