Stop weighing yourself. |
Find a good beach/plane read about body neutrality and change your mindset for good! Good luck |
You need to start a gratitude journal. It will help you focus on what you have. |
Buy a bunch of caftans and hide under those. Feel better now? What do you want us to say? I don't have any pictures of two years of vacations with my family because I felt fat. Well sure I'm now a size 2 now and my sons are adults but I regret those 2 years of no photos.
Vanity got the best of me and I was size 14. My son was going through medical treatments and we were in the hospital a lot. I wish I had given myself some grace. So don't be me. Because I'm sure nobody cared. |
Came here to say you are self-sabotaging |
Changrs need to be lifelong. You will gsin it all back if you do fad diets |
That's obvious enough. OP is just talking about vacation though. |
Eventually (if you’re lucky) you’ll be old and dying one day. Imagine looking back from that moment at right now. You would probably wish to be younger and healthy and doing the things you are doing right now. Don’t ruin the right now for nonsense like that. |
I relate completely. I feel that way every time I go away and don't look my best. Last summer for the first time in years I did look my best on vacation, and I did enjoy myself more, much more, because I didn't have that little nagging "people think I'm fat", "I look like crap in this outfit" feeling. It's not just in my head because so many posts in this very thread basically state that chubby = disgusting and they look down on heavy women. Should I care they feel this way? Obviously not, but that's how society thingks. It is absolutely stupid of course feeling this way, but I think I always will. |
I get it. I don’t try to actively lose weight before beach trip but I know I have to be the bigger sister in law next to my skinny bikini clad sister in laws so I often don’t enjoy my trip. |
This is what I tell myself and my close friends (when we tell each other we put in effort + wish we had lost more):
My effort counted. 1. My heart and muscles are healthier for continued effort. This will pay off as I keep going. 2. Who knows? I may have *gained* 10 lb had I not tried a little better eating and a little more activity. What if I actively lost weight by maintaining? I’ll never know, but at least I tried. |
I have had to really work at switching my mindset to "it takes as long as it takes" rather than having arbitrary deadlines. If you are being healthier- eating better, exercising, drinking water, etc.- your body and your health is improving. Some weeks you will see the outcome on the scale. Some weeks clothes might fit better, or your skin might be glowing, or you can lift a heavier weight, or you can run a bit further, etc. Some weeks the improvement will just be internal. The scale is just one measure. And while you might not be at the number you wanted, I am sure there are plenty of other ways your body/health has improved for this vacation.
