With return to the office less parents will accept practice times between 5 and 6pm. Less time to take kids to soccer summer camps.

Thoughts?

What depression?

Lots of people losing their jobs in DMV area
there are a lot of us smiling on the sidelines suffering in silence from getting riffed or bullied into deferred resignation and return to office.

Clubs should tread carefully…. And be kind as do the team families.

know some families on the bubble of leaving soccer or just doing HS. This summer will be interesting

You want pity now? 😭
Where was this energy DuRiNg CoViDd??? I'm perfectly fine with whatever happens to people, particularly in dc, " during this depression. "

So, please, simply reap in silence 🤐
lol someone got cut during covid… or u must not be a local. My club stole some money to stay alive during covid but then got the kids practicing virtually on zoom before in person. Covid was a vibe.

Also as goes dc goes the country. Watch what happens to social security…

Due to what? People lose jobs every day

You must only be on soccer forums 24/7 if you're clueless

Unfortunate when mental health issues such as depression lead to less kids playing.

I have been wondering about this as well. I'd love to know what club tryout registrations look like compared to last year. I am amazed to say I don't know anyone who has lost their job, but reportedly it is everywhere and certainly travel soccer does not qualify as a necessity. In Maryland with fall HS soccer, some kids could just play that in the fall based on their age and ability to make a team of course but in Virginia not playing in the fall is more of a problem. Not to mention that most players are not in high school. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

DMV are notoriously the most snobbish arrogant parents mostly because they've been enabled by bloated overpaying gov agencies.

Welcome to being like the rest of the nation + going into the office every day, actually working and figuring out how to get kids to and from practices during the week.

My prediction is that many DMV people are sitting on a pile of money + will stick around the area for a couple of years trying to wait out Trump for another gravy train with a new administration.

Maybe driving 5 hours to spend 6 hours to play teams the exact same level you could play doesn’t seem smart after all. 600 bucks in a hotel to play shit teams

I'm not a government employee, but I do live in the DMV. Where do you live may I ask?

Are you drunk at 8 am? Most of the local clubs only missed one season-spring 2020- during Covid.

And when covid ended many families continue to telework which helped clubs. Now teleworking is being reduced drastically.

I hope Trumps next phase is to take all gov agencies left over after DOGE and move them out of DMV to places like Cleveland, St Louis, Salt Lake, etc + continue to make reporting into an office mandatory.

Provide opportunities to the people that voted him into office not the ones that didn't.

There's no reason fed gov needs to be centralized in a single area.

So you know nothing about the federal government. Thanks for providing your commentary. Look at where federal employees currently are then get back to us.

Hahaha, sounds like you're starting to sweat. No worries things are changing and either you update and adapt or get left behind. This is something you've never heard before because your a gov lifer. But it's true.

Knowing families driving 2+ hours already for practice I think club soccer for top two teams will be just fine. People will just move South and West and continue on.
