Also how is a moderate Dem so attuned to how they covered protests that happened yesterday? Seems odd, as the only people who actually put that channel on that regularly are those who watch it.

Watching Fox right now. They are showing footage of the protests in several cities and asking people there what they are protesting... not that the answers they get from any of the protestors are coherent. But still, there's no news blackout.

Smart people know you get an education and move to where the opportunity is. It’s the ultimate entitlement to think someone should bring opportunities to you. Hollywood spent a lot of time dwelling on the costs of the decline of steel and factory jobs in the 80s. The country mourned with Hollywood and moved on. Time for these young men to focus on being serious and responsible.

It actually doesn’t matter how much you or other elites look down on and despise a group of disposessed young men who think they don’t have a future. It doesn’t matter how much you scorn them, how much better you believe you are than them. All you are doing with your derision and scorn is hardening the group, building it up, making it stronger.

And once you create that group, everyone experiences the consequences, because societies that have large groups of disaffected young men who feel they have nothing to lose will suffer. And make no mistake, you and other DCUM Democrats created that group as much as the wealthy Republicans did. Your scorn and derision after your support of policies that hollowed out their opportunities is just making that group stronger, little by little.

I just drove across most of the country. Compared to the first term, there are very few Trump signs out there. I think many Trump voters are very reachable if only Democrats had a message that resonated with the working and middle class. But Democrats don't. They have spent the past decade repelling vast swaths of voters. And living in DC, I can see that Democrats still have their heads in the sand. They reflexively blame stupidity, racism, and misogyny for their losses. They assume everyone living between DC and California are illiterate ogres.

But Democrats never address their own policy choices and the strength of their candidates. I suspect Democrats are just going to sit on their asses for 4 years and rely on the unpopularity of Trump to win elections. And that'll work for one election cycle. That's how Biden won. But if Trump isn't on the ballot, Democrats problems are going to get worse, not better. I think the progressive bubble is more destructive than the MAGA bubble. Democrats are the party of wealthy, progressive white elites and black women. That's a tiny little tent. Until Democrats get out of their own bubble and actually talk to middle class families and address the kitchen table issues - and fears - that most Americans deal with, the party will continue to slide into irrelevancy.
