If you are avoiding Amazon and Target, where are you buying what?

They are absolutely part of the problem.

PP you replied to. No, they're really not. You need to look past the Bezos and Zuckerberg million dollar donations to the Inauguration and see what the war of influence is between Musk and those guys. I don't know what you've got against Target, I never shop there.

It’s challenging! I’ve been going directly to some of the companies I usually get from Amazon. Just before these boycotts I also started reducing items I buy that are plastic. For example, I recently switched to a new dishwasher detergent called Dirty Labs (it works great!) which I bought from Amazon originally and purchased it directly from the company and set up auto shipping every few months so I don’t to think about it. Otherwise I go to local grocery stores or order from Costco. I’ve been feeling so powerless lately so this has helped me feel I may have some small impact.

I'm generally just buying less in preparation for the MAGApocalypse.

Costo when I can. Direct from businesses.

Already sold our Telsas when Musk went insane a couple of years ago.

Look past the fact that they are part of the problem?

No thanks.

Fck Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg.

Walmart?

I don't proactively support small businesses even if I like the notion of small businesses because they're just not that great. They are more expensive and don't have the same stock. And some are certainly very ideological (looking at you Penzys).

Amazon is wonderful. Target is convenient. The only person who cares if you try to make a moral argument out of avoiding Amazon and Target is you and you alone, no one else. Do what you want but you aren't budging the needle except you will spend more money by trying to avoid the big boxes and Amazon, and it was another person on another thread who also pointed out it's more ecologically friendly and sustainable to stick with Amazon and deliveries than going to 20 different stores in your car.

I don't care if I'm not "moving the needle" (which, have you seen Target's numbers right now? The needle is moving.)

I care about where I spend my money, and I don't care to spend mine at Amazon or Target or Walmart right now. YMMV.

Yup! If I have to get in my car and venture out to 5+ stores to get what I can get at one, then I'm hurting the environment as well as wasting my time. Also, I live in a city, so driving to city stores (if not within walking distance) means finding parking, paying for parking at each of those 5 stores. I would much rather save that 2hours+, save the environment and order online. Similarly, many small stores now redirect you to amazon for their items. It gives them a much larger audience and saves money. People are more likely to order online if shipping is free. And yes, I live in a bldg with over 200 units, so when the amazon truck comes multiple times a day, it's a large drop-off--not to mention all of the other condo/apt buildings within 5 block radius. Much more efficient than 1000+ people driving to 5+ stores, circling the block multiple times to find a parking spot, etc.

IMO they have all been 1000% times worse than Amazon or Target, and I largely stopped shopping there decades ago, unless I'm somewhere that's the only option (on vacations).

So are most of the big grocery stores--they are all owned by 2-3 parent companies and giving them more of my $$ also isn't in best interests

Bezos doesn't run Amazon or its sub companies. He runs the post, movie, etc. Bezos stock from Amazon but so do employees and many others. Amazon provides a lot of jobs so you are hurting those working for amazon at risk for losing their jobs as numbers go down.

Musk ... not a chance I'd buy anything from him.

Don't sleep on Kohls! It's old school but seriously...Nice selection of Under Armour, Nike, etc for kids. Also good for shoes, homewares, toys for gifts, socks, bras, etc.

+1, Kohls. Also Dicks and Costco.
And Lands End, either direct or via Macy's.

This list makes it easier to find places to replace the billionaire-owned companies.

The suggestions for replacing the Washington Post were good. They might not all be perfect though. I questioned Wayfair as a replacement for Amazon, but this list is a start.

How are Bezos and Zuckerberg not the problem? If Zuck is not the problem, why are you saying not to use Facebook or any Meta product?

- Local grocery store
- Local drugstore
- Local hardware store
- Chain beauty retailer
- Online directly from brand

I gave in and bought my family's preferred laundry detergent from Target because it's not widely available.

Any recs to make fewer trips? I don't want to support Walmart either.

Grocery store just for groceries
Walgreens
Lowe’s
Ulta or direct

I dint really shop that much so it’s not an issue
