Should the democrats split between a Democratic and Progressive party?

Dems got unmarried women, renters, giv workers, black folks, trans folks, childless, queer folks, etc. Reps got the fellas, the marrieds, the parents, the homeowners , the private sector workers, and whatnot

Different strokes for different folks

Not really. Each side has their crazies while the middle is swinging back and forth trying to run away from them.

This. Each election we basically get to choose which of the two crazy sides is less crazy. It is no fun.

Dems could split into one party that’s primarily concerned with economic stuff and one party that’s primarily concerned with sex stuff. Both could resist Trump, both could be led by AOC, but they could each have their preferred areas of focus

It’s so incredibly sad that there are not enough sane people in the middle for a majority.

There are. Democrats just don’t like it. The country is 40% conservative,
40% centrist, and 20% liberal. Liberals hate the voters’ preferences, and increasingly, Democrats hate the voters themselves.

Trump doesn’t look that extreme to the median voter. He just looks extreme to power hungry Democrats who think it’s their right to rule. Every demographic shifted substantially to the right this election. Not because they thought the Republicans were too extreme.

Wrong. The country is only around 20% MAGA, 20% conservative and the rest a mixed bag and Trump is extreme.

I can respect policy differences between the two (or actually it’s way more than two) groups. But I can’t respect a President who shows no respect for the Constitution, the Judicial and Legislative branches of the government or any kind of diplomatic precedent with our foreign allies.

Yes really. Look it up. dcurbanmoms understand voter demographic the least, because they are Democrats with demographic characteristics that would make them Republicans anywhere but in a few blue cities.

Women really are sorting themselves into different camps. Single people and married people. Government workers and private sector workers.

Look it up. It’ll surprise you. Most dcurbanmoms don’t know the demographics because they aren’t flattering to our egos. We’re supposed to be the fancy party! How can our median incomes be lower than the redneck party’s?!

There's no need for you to project.

While the homeowning parents etc did indeed vote against the Dems in 2024 they also voted against the Repubs in 2020, against the D's in '16 and against the R's in 12. Notice a pattern?

Describe what each of these 2 party offshots agendas would be. What would Democracts vs. Progressives stand for in your universe

+1, very few progressives have gotten any work done, but they do complain a lot about the party. The only progressive whose done substantial work is Elizabeth Warren, and she's taken a complete backseat on publicity.

The reason they get nothing done is because of Moderates like Schumer. Schumer thinks the Republicans like him

Progressives have the energy and fight. The Democratic Party does not do anything but appease the republicans.

If you elect the same democrats nothing will change.

Wrong. Look at the data. Homeowning parents voted Republican in every single one of those years. Why would you make stuff up when we’re talking about voter demographic data? Sheesh. If you’re willing to lie, your message board contributions are a lot less valuable.

If Trump doesn’t seem extreme to you then you’re getting a steady diet of misinformation from Fox News. Threatening to annex allies? Abducting US citizens to El Salvador? Threatening to silence opposition news organizations? That’s all Orban-level extreme.

Don’t worry about me, worry about the voters. They aren’t up for another four years of Democrats #resisting a duly elected President. Every time you whine about Trump, Republican control of the government extends another year into the future. Trump isn’t your problem anymore. He already beat you, again and again and again. Now your problem is the Republican candidates of 2028, 2032, and 2036. Your party is auditioning for those election years now. And the voters do not like what they’re seeing from you.
