Not only NO but HELL NO! You are crazy. |

Sure, maybe he could get in the last word in a debate with JD. But Kamala mopped the floor in the debate with Trump. Didn't get her elected. |
Some of you need to get out of utopia and into reality. If a male politician is on the ballot, then you have a gross misogynist on the ballot plus a narcissist to boot, ok? Those are the kinds of men who think they uniquely deserve to run a country. The fact that some of these characters' sins are still hidden doesn't mean you should delude yourself about who they are.
So, with that said, the mission here is to pick whoever can win the country. No one's running to be your personal savior or best friend. |
Okay but we don't need to deliberately choose the ones whose sins we know. |
I think Cuomo is the strongest candidate mentioned so far. He comes across as a pragmatist and left-of-center. Clearly, having a history sexual harassment is no impediment since Trump was elected twice.
The COVID nursing home deaths would definitely need to be addressed ahead of time. |
Christ. This is a -the?- problems with Dems. We have all these litmus tests, morality tests, etc. etc. etc. R's just vote for the person with the "R" after their name? Do you want a purity test or to win? I'm by no means in favor of Cuomo. But I don't need to "like him" or "wanna have a beer with him" etc. I. Want. To. Win. |
One thing to add: He was a governor. Governors are used to being the "boss" and having to be realistic about actually getting things done. |
I would vote for him or Andy Beshear.
We don’t need a bunch of progressive left crap. Just out someone sane in that won’t tax the fk out of everyone. |
She didn't mop the floor with Trump in the way that mattered, honey. Do any of you know people who aren't passive aggressive white or white-adjacent liberals? Most of the country isn't impressed by Aaron Sorkin-type snippy comebacks delivered with a haughty glare. It was clear she took Trump seriously and was seeking to engage with his points. Big mistake. Trump doesn't come off as having any respect whatsoever even for the idea of the person he's debating, much less for anything the other person is saying. Cuomo has that same contemptuous "you see this buffoon? lemme talk over them" type of Fight Club approach that's what the country likes right now. |
HARD PASS |
I admit, I don't know the details. But were Cuomo's harassment incidents felony-level crimes or were they more like Clarence Thomas level stuff?
If it's more the latter, he should be okay. He has already been "punished" and has been in the Dog House for a few years, so it's not like he is getting away with it. |
300% yes. He's very realistic IMO. One sees it in the types of trans policies he supported. Protection from job discrimination? Yes. Coverage under human rights laws? Yes. Entry into women's sports? Hard pass. Very sane, defensible record. He also might be the only Democratic candidate who doesn't have an extensive highlight reel of utterly foolish-sounding pro-trans soundbites ready to be turned into attack ads against him. |
Cuomo has a long history of being a successful left-of-center democrat.
Harris is perceived as far-left, even if she has tried to reposition herself as more centrist. And let's be honest. Race and gender are still an issue. It's sucks, but we may as well acknowledge reality. |
I've always been a fan of multi-term state governors being on the short list of potential POTUS candidates. They have the most relevant experience. Dems have a few of those from swing states (being from a swing state adds some mustard to a candidate's resume but it isn't a must have). I would have thought redneck Clinton had no chance on the big stage until he actually got on the big stage. It's impossible to tell if a candidate has the necessary likability and presidential leadership prowess until they are campaigning. Primary debates can be very effective in separating the cream of the crop from the also-rans (primary debates serve an actual purpose unlike general election debates that have only served the purpose of embarrassing the country in recent elections). |
