This is silly but I feel absolutely gutted for one of the three schools we have to turn down. I really like this school a lot and we hit it off with the HOS. The other schools I’m fine with, but I am dreading informing this very close second

They don't take it personally and they appreciate knowing ASAP so they can go to their waitlist. It's a nice courtesy to do as soon as you know you are not accepting.

This. Send a nice email asap thanking them and letting them know you will be going elsewhere.

Someday, people will understand that someone declining an offer of admission doesn’t lead a school to tap their waitlist.
