| What even makes teachers even more powerless is when admin and parents are teaming up against teachers to inflate their ill behaved student grades. |
You sound stable. |
So EVERYONE is a bad apple? 🤔 Okaaayyy.... |
Nothing meaningful from what I can see. |
I don't know a single teacher who isn't aware of: grade inflation ans anti-student curriculums. I mean.. your job is to teach children and yet you support an institution that prevents learning. What do you expect. Teaching doesn't carry the social positivity it once did. |
Whether you truly believe that or not, you do realize there are a slew of other jobs within a school system, correct? And you've been in every teacher's room to see said lack of learning? Okaaayyyyy! |
+ 1 mcps is notorious for having dirtbag unethical admin. I’ve worked in a couple of schools in the county and it is been the same everywhere. Current principal is just evil. I’ve also noticed when teachers get promoted to admin, they soon become just as dirty. |
YES. Admin at my past two schools have been atrocious. No support; gaslighting teachers to try and convince them that they are the problem.....why move schools again? I don't think any principals with experience and true leadership skills currently exist in MCPS. It's truly saddening and horrifying as honestly; the kids will suffer in the end by MCPS hiring or promoting failures. This would NEVER fly in the private sector (where I have most of my experience). It's not you OP. We truly have no leadership. |
| Assistant principal at my high school put immense pressure on teachers to pass kids who did no work and who almost never showed up to class and he recently got a plum principal job and was showered with accolades |
Solved the racism problem at Wootton, I hear. Better than my principal who made headlines for anti semitism as an acting principal at another school last year. |
Fortunately for you, many of us work HARD, giving up our own time and resources, to provide the best experience for your children. We are aware of the system’s problems and work as best we can with those limitations. We also fight on behalf of your children internally, something you don’t see. So I’ll take this moment to say, “you’re welcome.” |
Is your position that teachers should quit if they don’t agree with their administrations? You don’t think we would have much more significant problems if that happened? |
| While there is a lot about the system that frustrates me, I feel very lucky to work for a principal and admin team that I like and respect. |
This. Especially the folks with advanced degrees - speech paths, lawyers, psychologists. Shame. |
