These people were right about liver issues though it's obviously possible she knew it already. I don't think it is an awful thing to comment on (provided it is said with tact) because sometimes celebrities are not aware. Thinking of Tarek El Moussa who found out he had thyroid cancer because a nurse watching his show spotted it and told him so.

One of my best friends from about 7th-10th grades had her liver fail when we were in our early 30s. Her liver failure was due to years of substance abuse (first alcohol and later drugs), which began when we were buddies. She got clean after it was too late for her liver and died before her 35th birthday.

My friend was not eligible for a transplant due to UNOS rules.

Correct. Why? That isn't common in your thirties, is the point.

Most common reasons for transplant are severe alcoholism or hepatitis C (although good medication for that now).

Major causes of cirrhosis leading to liver failure and liver transplant include:

Hepatitis B and C.
Alcoholic liver disease.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
Genetic diseases, including hemochromatosis, which causes excessive iron buildup in the liver, and Wilson's disease, which causes excessive copper buildup in the liver (very common genetic diseases too many people don't know they have)
primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis and biliary atresia.

her eyes had looked yellow in her posts for awhile. I don't think fans were trying to be mean, at least not all of them. People were concerned. She also did look very guant.

I have lupus and it can affect your organs including the liver. Selena Gomez had a kidney transplant. If she was an alcoholic or drugs user she wouldn't have received a transplant. Please don't jump to the conclusion she was an addict because it was her liver.

Yes, if you can get clean and stay clean for a prescribed period of time. Then they'll put you on a list. But many people die before they can get a liver.

If her liver disease is of a certain type, or not that far along, and you have a matching family donor, they can give you a portion of theirs.
