RIP Michelle Trachtenberg, 39

I really doubt either an ED or alcoholism would cause that level of liver damage in her 30s. Usually you don’t see cirrhosis until much later even in very heavy drinkers.

More likely it is hepatitis. I had a friend who this happened to her in 30s. She got a liver transplant. Lost an incredible amount of weight with the whole process.

Could have also been cancer that spread to liver.

Rest in peace.

Can you get a liver transplant if your liver is damaged due to drug and alcohol use?

Mickey Mantle did (you aren’t supposed to, but different rules for wealthy/famous).

So did Larry Hagman, but we have no idea why Michelle needed a liver transplant. The guessing is morbid.

You are incorrect on all accounts.

i knew someone who died of liver failure about 30 yrs ago. She took Tylenol when she drank too much. She was a college student and had heard it was a good idea to take a few aspirin after a drinking to ward off a hangover headache and the day after ad well. But instead of aspirin she took Tylenol.

She lost a ton of weight and just felt sick all of the time so finally went to a doctor but there was nothing they could do for her. She died before she could even make it onto the list.

I don’t think I’ve taken a Tylenol since.

A costar mentioned her “struggles” in a public statement after her death, which seemed to be a thinly veiled reference to substance abuse.

Definitely not wrong with the account about my friend!
For lover cirrhosis in such a young patient, it would be pretty rare and due to extreme binge drinking. Just really doubt that’s the case here.
Hepatitis is the more common cause of liver damage across all age groups, but especially among 30-somethings.
I don’t have the stats on ED for liver damage but I’ve known lots of anorexics and none of them died from liver damage or even had jaundice issues. Plus the weight loss she had looked like acute liver failure.

PP that mentioned Tylenol may have the right answer — Tylenol plus alcohol is a really bad combo and can definitely cause liver failure in an otherwise healthy adult.

I absolutely hated the character Dawn, but this is very sad.

Yeah, Rosie O'Donnell. Probably should have left that off her statement. Don't think they were that close.

Harriett the spy was one of my favorite movies growing up. RIP

This is a cross over with the Blake Lively thread but wow that statement she released, and after Michelle Trachtenberg commented that she had nothing to say about the Baldoni thing. So gross to write such a long, weird statement with the word "yummy" in it of all words.

Could’ve been an ED.

What is ED? Google is only telling me erectile disfunction, which doesn't make sense.
