Which Honda dealership for best deal on a new car?

We like Bill Page on Rt 50. Has shuttle that at least gets you to Metro or home if close.
Browns in Arlington was ok too we got prior car there.

You don’t have to go where you purchased for service or even warranty work. Any Honda dealer will service a Honda under warranty. You buy where you get the best price. Then service wherever you like.

For what one anecdote is worth, when we needed a new car fast last fall (previous one totaled), I spent a couple of days emailing basically every Honda dealer in the greater DMV that had the trim and one of the colors we wanted, first getting an OTD price (well, trying to get an OTD price, which many of them of course are reluctant to provide), then going back to each with the best price we'd gotten. I'm sure we could've saved a bit with more effort, but we got it for a price in line with the statistics/anecdotes I was seeing.

Anyway, we bought at Landmark, which was both the most responsive to our emails and calls and was within a couple hundred of the lowest price. Went in with a checkbook and left with a new car a couple hours later, no pushing on loans, extended warranties (they did the spiel but didn't press, and seemed to cut it short based on my facial expression), or anything else.

The only other dealership that stands out in memory was Hendrick (Woodbridge), where we ended up (without trying to) talking to three different people who all repeatedly promised OTD quotes were coming and never provided them. But, at least until I stopped checking, they continued to clog my burner email account with multiple daily expressions of ardent desire to sell me a car.

Herson's is the worst. It's almost like they don't want to sell cars. Ourisman has the best prices and they have the most cars on the lot and in shipment. Herson's isn't getting cars to sell.

…says the salesperson at Ourisman’s. Color me highly skeptical.

Browns ripped me off horribly when I first moved to Arlington (Courthouse) 25ish years ago. I'm older and wiser now. I don't even care if it's under different management, the experience was that bad. And then, because I was young and dumb, they ripped me off on service, too. Never again.

Be skeptical all you want. I visited Herson's this week and the salesman said they were out of stock of the car I wanted for weeks and just got a couple in. After I test drove the car, he didn't seem interested in selling me the car. I asked him to give me his best price. He emailed me the sticker price the next morning. I couldn't believe it. On the other hand, I reached out to Ourisman and heard back from a salesman immediately. H gave me $2,000 off the same exact car with no haggling. I made the deposit yesterday.

This is the second time I had this issue with the two dealerships and second purchase I have made from Ourisman's.

I bought one Honda from Hersons; terrible experience. Never would consider them again.

I have bought several Hondas and lots of other cars being a "car guy". What you are experiencing is really sales person to sales person dependent and their gumption is really dependent on your attitude and serious factor. If you know what you want and tell them this is how you earn my business, most sales people will cut the BS and quickly decide if you're being reasonable and if it is worth their time. If youre playing games or expecting them to get their ass kicked by their GM for a base commission they might not respond like you expect.

If you talk their lingo find areas of opportunity such as cars on the lot for a long time, sales targets near completion, manufacture incentives you can do better than avg. If you want something custom or hot doing Avg is a good deal. If they need to ship it or order it special MSRP+ should be almost expected. Also remember deals often consist of trades, financing and OTD pricing. you can win on 2/3 annd still end up with a bad deal. Speak your truth and say I am a buyer for the best total deal I can find for a black passport in this trim. I have a trade and credit union approval, here is my trade that carmax offered me XXXXX what numbers can you do. I suspect sales people will treat you a little different no matter the dealership

That will tell them youre serious, not a sucker and ready to close. You will then get sales people stretching to close at least most of the time.

Word of advice unless he is the dead straight shooter type, avoid the old men at the dealerships. They have crafted/perfected their hustle and are much better practiced than you will ever be, many of them simply have no interest in lower commission deals and will hammer you relentlessly fully prepared for you to walk without a care in the world. They simply rather win than close any old deal. I typically find the up and commers younger guys looking for numbers to be more amiable to showing their cards. They will respect your honesty where the older guys can't help but go into their pitch.

A fool and their money are soon parted. If they didn't the very next place you walked into would have. That wasn't a them problem it was a you problem. You should thank them for showing you the holes in your armor before someone took you worse.

OP. before you start the process, set up a new gmail account and a google voice number. Only give those out. You will get calls and emails from them forever. This way, you can drop the email/phone number after you are done buying.

When I bought my Odyssey (several years ago) we did this, emailed the dealers (we were specific on the model and color) and asked them to provide an out the door price. Some did not want to and asked us to come in. Ignore them. Others did provide a price. Took the best price and went to a closer-in dealer whose price was close to the lowest and asked them to match. They said they would if I brought in the quote from the other dealer which they honored.

Went in, met with the internet sales people, test drove the specific vehicle and got the promised price.

If someone gives you a price, you need to have it in writing to be able to haggle. So of course, they are hesitant to do this, because they know you will just email it to some other location. They will pressure you to come to the dealership to talk because they know that once you are there, you are more willing to finish the deal because you're invested.

I'd suggest patience. It may take a few weeks of going silent or waiting for them to reach back out to you once they've thought about your "offer" that they said no too.

We were flexible about color, which helped. But if you have a very specific idea for that, I'd know go in ahead of time with what you want.

Horrible advice !!!!!

Why?

This is what I ended up doing at the end. Only pain was that something had to be fixed in the beginning while it was still under warranty, and it was far to go back and forth. But they were nice.
