That would be an irrational fear. It is going to be well above freezing in the morning.

But why make the employees go to work on time if you don't have to?

Because the decision today was wise. We hope it's a trend.

I personally thought today’s decision was unwise, but I still think there will be no reason to delay Thursday.

I guess we'll find out how beholden Taylor is to the teachers union. But it is going to be awfully hard to come up with a plausible excuse in support of a delay.

How about the student parking lots weren't cleared because students forgot to move their vehicles?? Plausible

No. Rain will wash everything away so there will be enough spaces to open the lot come Thursday.

Snow isn't going to last 22 hours in above freezing temperatures with rain.

But if it's rain, this won't work

Taylor will take pictures at 9am tomorrow morning and use that to justify closing on Thursday, hoping people won't bother to
look at the timestamp.

Ridiculous? Yes, but that's what he did last time.

No, last time it was well below freezing and there was ice in some school parking lots, so despite the fact that my kids' school was perfectly safe, I accept that others were not.

I deeply dislike how biased you are against this man and his administration. What a nasty person you are.

Stop blaming the teachers union for everything. Blame the county and MCPS for not clearing the roads and parking lots promptly.

Why is freezing rain predicted this afternoon?

Why was it unwise? Seemed smart decision to me

Not trying to rehash that argument, just saying I have leaned on the cautious side and I still think they’ll be on time tomorrow.

It's not ignorance to look around and notice how many days this year MCPS offices have been closed or delayed for "weather" while all non school workplaces have been open on time.

This is an exaggeration. If you look at the MoCo circuit court for example, they’ve closed on 3/4 days the schools closed and on that third day of closure in early January when everyone was losing their minds, they still had a delay. They’re not the only place. Many workplaces are very open all the time but there is a range.

Oh good lord.

The Circuit Court is conservative because of people don't show up for court (perhaps because they have to stay home with their kids?) the consequences are really bad.

Now do the county government. And look at delays too.

Most of those non school workplaces don't have 200+ parking lots to clear.

There are many more than 200 parking lots in private businesses in the county and they each manage to clear them without a multi billion dollar budget
