American tourists in Canada

We're not angry at Americans. Mostly we feel bad for you. As long as you're not wearing a MAGA hat, it will be the same as always.

Also we have no interest in becoming your 51st state.

Hope you freeze Ehh?

Watch out for moose!

I don’t think there is anywhere Americans will be popular this summer. He is determined to piss everyone in the world off, except maybe Putin.

We drove through Canada some last summer, and my car was keyed really badly one night. Felt deliberate due to my US license plates.

I go to Canada every couple of weeks for work. They don't dislike Americans, sometimes (like now) they don't like US Govt and/or policies.

I saw that there was a hit and run on a Tesla on my route to pick up the kids from school today. I had to wonder if it was due to our recent Musk actions. I think that kind of thing can happen anywhere.

Maybe this says more about your marriage.

In any case, it's not that Trump's policies have changed Canadians' feelings about Americans, or that Americans should feel more nervous or cautious about travelling to Canada due to the tariffs.

Yeah, I think Canadians are typically the nicest people as a nationality. For real. I've been all over the world and everyone can be nice but from a nationality perspective, culturally, Canadians are very sincerely good willed toward Americans.

I do think that Trump has made it almost impossible to be nice anymore however. I personally will not be going planning to go to Canada but also not the National Parks cause without oversight in the park it'll prob be a crowded gross disaster It's just a fear based on logical conclusions and I could be dead wrong.

I would go away - far far away from the N Hemisphere to Europe/Africa/Asia where we will not be welcomed probably in the near future - hahaha! Seriously, you go where you can - lots of places for sure! Alaska would be a good one to do right about now before the drilling starts and the landscape is ruined..

But now he is threatening to put tariffs on the EU!

PP of above here - that's why I'm suggesting to get to EU soonest! Within these 4 years, I'm betting that we blow up our ties there so you know, go while you can! I'd add MT and other scenic locations in the US because he will not have a problem in messing up nature/environment. All our holiday we try to go places where it may not be around someday in the near future. I hate to say it but there's plenty of places like that. We're going to be able to see major cities you know? But you go where it's still affordable, not jammed with crowds, weather wise is still bearable and scenery is still around. You go where one day you may not be able to to fully enjoy.

It’s just our allies (except the lowest one, on China). So psycho!

Did trump write this? It’s hilarious. If Canadians were actually jealous of Americans they would have jumped at the chance to become the 51st state. Instead the country has banded together to boycott American products.

As a general rule, Canadians are kind. People also don’t KNOW you’re American unless you very publicly announce it - ie wearing your us flag cut off tshirt or whatever. Just be kind and courteous and you’ll likely get treated the same in return. Plus, you’ll get a 30-40% bonus on the exchange, it’s a good place to travel right now!

This made me LOL. As if more than about five tourists a year get near the North Slope and/or a handful of wells are going to "ruin the landscape" up there. FYI -- those pictures the enviros post of ANWR are the Brooks Range and are not where the oil is.

Right. People can't immediately tell you are American. Maybe if you have a strong regional accent, but otherwise Americans can blend in just fine.

Leave your MAGA gear and 51st state regalia home, and you should be fine.

Americans are welcome. Nazis, Nazi sympathizers, bigots, and racists are not. So long as you leave the MAGA behind, you'll be fine.

+100

Canadians are polite. They are not nice. There’s a big difference.

Dumb. Teslas have cameras all around them and are constantly recording. It's easy to review the footage and probably catch the person who "hit and ran".
