UVA engineering is #35. Hardly “prestigious.”

UVa grads make more ( in an appes to apples comparison) because it's more prestigious.

Not necessarily true. It could be that UVA grads are working in areas where cost of living is higher. Hence, they are making more. I didn't check to see if the salary is adjusted for where a person lives.

But ODU grads make more than UVA grads. I guess we know what the means.

US News rankings are meaningless, especially for Engineering.

False. They are very meaningful. They are substantially the reputation of the school from other schools. Most universities believe those at the top are the best universities for engineering.

GA tech was ranked 9th in WSJ rankings. Significantly higher than UVA. I think it all depends on the major. Fee wise, Ga Tech will be more since it is OOS for VA residents but definitely lot cheaper than other public schools like U Mich.

Georgia Tech

To the one who said UVA is more prestigious, absolutely not in engineering.

GT is like Ivy League of engineering. UVA is not known for engineering. Indeed, Virginia Tech would be higher status than UVA in engineering.

This has to do with ODU being located in a military and shipbuilding area.

Don't make the salary argument if you have excuses.
