I need some new workout clothes (HIIT, breathable, for a sweaty middle aged lady)

I do hit in body hugging shorts and sports bra typically. I do HIIT at home and no clothing is built for real HIIT because it is supposed to put you to near failure and sweating by 2nd interval should be a lot. By 5 or 6 intervals you are disgustingly sweaty and clean up and good mat that can be cleaned is most important.

Not PP. If burpees are part of your workout, do not wear shorts. Your knees will thank you.
why would your knees matter in a burpee. They never touch the mat.

What kind of burpees do you do? We do chest to floor burpees at my gym.

DP I do these and never have problems with my knees. I don’t use them jumping up. They touch the floor for a few seconds.

NP. That’s nice for you. It’s pretty common for the skin on people’s knees to bother them. It’s why people have towels during yoga and stretching.

You realize that there are tons of variations on burpees, right, and that none of that matters for purposes for this thread on durable workout clothes? Also nobody cares whether you do a pushup and come down to the floor during your burpee; trying to outdo each on an anonymous middle age mommy blog is laughable.

I've typically liked Lululemon's fast & free crops, and CRZ's knockoff "naked feel" capris. I need sweat wicking, something that allows me to move easily. Durable, doesn't make me feel hot. Pockets, preferably. Open to tops - larger chested, and don't like high necklines.

Please help me upgrade my workout wear!

You describe yourself as "sweaty" have you ever thought to consult a DR OP? I am also middle aged but would never ever consider myself "sweaty." It sounds like perhaps some hormone balancing is needed, not so much new workout clothing.

oh good lord she means she is working out hard and thus sweaty

My favorite tops are Lucy, but honestly the Amazon Essentials are fine. You mostly need a good bra.

I've bought some Athleta leggings and pants this year and been pleasantly surprised by how they resist smells more than my other exercise clothes (particularly in the crotch - sorry to be gross but that can be a problem area when you work out hard).

Interesting, at my fitness classes everyone does what this article says is a "down up" when it's time for burpees. Didn't know about the knees on the floor type.

Check out REI. I found some good items there from brands I was not familiar with. They have a good variety. Of course it’s geared a bit more toward hiking but still has options.

If you're just getting started, Old Navy's athletic line is solid.

Once you are committed to a routine, you could move up to Athleta. I like their Elation leggings because they are very high waisted and simple. They have a 30% off sale right now and if you go to the Athleta reddit, you can grab some codes that stack on top of that sale.

Old Navy’s power soft leggings are great. I have tons of lulu leggings, but the ones I reach for most often are from old navy. I do hot yoga and OTF in them, and run outside in the warmer months. They don’t fall down, aren’t aggressively compressive, and look great. Amd really, they’re like $30, so worth a try.

I am the one that does burpees chest to the floor, which includes the whole body on the floor including my knees. I need thick leggings for this days. We do these types of burpees at a CrossFit gym.

I get my Athleta stuff secondhand, cheaper than new from Old Navy.
