I need some new workout clothes (HIIT, breathable, for a sweaty middle aged lady)

Anonymous
45 female, size 6ish. I need some new workout clothes, and it's been a while since I purchased some sturdy essentials that can handle my fairly rigorous 6x/week workouts.

I've typically liked Lululemon's fast & free crops, and CRZ's knockoff "naked feel" capris. I need sweat wicking, something that allows me to move easily. Durable, doesn't make me feel hot. Pockets, preferably. Open to tops - larger chested, and don't like high necklines.

Please help me upgrade my workout wear!

Lululemon Align leggings with pockets and bra tanks or bra with an Alo tank. Lululemon jackets have great pockets.

Are aligns really for HIIT? I thought they were more of a yoga/pilates pant.

I am not PP but I wear Lulu Wunder Train leggings with pockets. I find them thicker than the Aligns. I wear them to CrossFit and for running.

Another vote for wonder train. Align is more for yoga/pilates imo

Thanks for the feedback, ladies. Any other recs besides Lululemon? I need workout wear that's functional. If it looks cute, that's great - but it's gotta handle the grind first and foremost!

Lululemon and Athleta are awful. Look into Branwyn and Wool&.

No. They’re not wicking nor do they have compression. Look at any of their running/training leggings. Base pace, fast and free , wunder under. I’ve tried a ton of brands and always come back to Lululemon even if their quality isn’t the same as years ago. No brand is these days.

Vuori and alo are popular. I have Vuori joggers that I love but I don’t work out in them. They make leggings. Never tried alo but I see lots of it in the gym.

If you are really doing HIIT you really need a good mat and cleaning supplies.

I do hit in body hugging shorts and sports bra typically. I do HIIT at home and no clothing is built for real HIIT because it is supposed to put you to near failure and sweating by 2nd interval should be a lot. By 5 or 6 intervals you are disgustingly sweaty and clean up and good mat that can be cleaned is most important.

I use the Aligns because the higher compressions make me too hot. As it is I feel overheated 30 seconds into workout. They are also forgiving in the waist band if needed.

Not PP. If burpees are part of your workout, do not wear shorts. Your knees will thank you.

why would your knees matter in a burpee. They never touch the mat.

What kind of burpees do you do? We do chest to floor burpees at my gym.

You describe yourself as "sweaty" have you ever thought to consult a DR OP? I am also middle aged but would never ever consider myself "sweaty." It sounds like perhaps some hormone balancing is needed, not so much new workout clothing.
