Why do gay men excel while straight men flounder?

Wow. Cool. The vast majority of white men aren’t going to be CEO ever. The stats on who CEOs are have little to no bearing on the rest of us.

Gay men born in rural and conservative areas have a massive incentive to get the hell out of there before they end up like Matthew Shepard.

There are two main ways to get out of a small town, go to college, or join the military, and up until very recently the military was not an option. It's still not a terribly safe or welcoming option.

Higher education + moving to (liberal) job centers = far greater chance of success in life.

LOL so white straight men should receive 90% of all promotions and win 90% of competitions because if they don’t there must be discrimination against them? Why when straight white men are no where near 90% of the population would you expect this to happen? Do you really think that the sheer fact that you are a straight white man that you should win everything? What gave you this idea? Certainly not meritocracy!

I worked in a couple of industries where there were mostly gay men, theater and agencies for performers etc.

They have the soft skills that straight men often do not have. Generally speaking, they also are capable of listening and seeming to empathize. This is worth its weight in gold.

If you want nicer things in life then those cost money, if you want them bad enough you’ll work extra hard to get them, so it’s not a surprise to me that gay men on average are better educated and make more.

This person gets it...gay men love nice clothes, nice decor, nice restaurants, luxe travel. They get their teeth whitened, expensive haircuts, botox. Unless some older guy is paying they know they have to work for that money.

I think teachers and other female dominated professions have never been paid fairly, and as smart women went into more male led professions, and documentation requirements became more ridiculous for teachers, there were fewer and fewer really good teachers who had the capacity to teach boys that had a lot of typical boy behaviors.

This led to boys getting behind and labeled as poor students early on, and then just sort of seeing themselves that way.

I’m guessing that, as an aggregate, men who identify themselves as gay had the capacity to act a lot more like girls as little boys. They could sit quietly and color, don’t play as aggressively, etc. They then see themselves as good students, just like the girls do. And because they see themselves this way, they are more likely to succeed in school.

This part is easy… no obligations.

Gay men are dads, husbands, sons, volunteers in their communities. They have jobs. Of course they have obligations. If they are excelling it’s likely due to less poison of toxic masculinity.
