Man, sometimes on this site I find out that Iβm way more progressive than I thought. |
Exactly. |
How so? If she was clear about being transgender, that's one thing, but if she appears to be a woman in their locker room... |
| Who is playing coed hockey? I bet very few. |
A lot of women play adult league hockey. There are often just not enough women to play a full local league, or not enough guys for a full team. |
What do gay men do then? |
Shower with the men and get excited? So at this point, we should just have showers for all? Everyone just have a good ol Roman time? There are gay guys, trans women, and straight women who all want to be in the guys' locker room. I'm fine if that's the expectations going forward, just don't get upset when your 20 year old daughter playing in an adult league sees old man penises everywhere in the shower or while they're putting their cups on. |
| We have an auxiliary locker room where most girls and women prefer to change when playing co-ed. I have no interest in being in the men's locker room. |
Just going out on a limb here, but if the female is playing coed adult hockey, I'm guessing she doesn't look like a pin-up model. |
Same. |
|
DH here.
While you do see menβs junk in the shower / locker room, I have never once seen a naked man who was, um, βarousedβ in a public shower / locker. That would be super weird. |
This isn't true (and you've contradicted yourself). There is enough interest that there are multiple women's leagues and a website dedicated to women's hockey in the DMW area: dmvwomenshockey.com. There is an adult women's house league in Maryland and also in Northern VA. There are 10 women's travel leagues throughout MD/VA. |
| Plenty of women play co-ed as well as in women's only leagues. I play mostly with women now that I'm older, but when I was younger and in better shape, I played mostly on co-ed teams. I always opted to change in a separate area when I play on a co-ed (men's) team, but some women would change in the main locker room. |
+1. I'll only ever play co-ed because I took up hockey for fun as an adult (with a competitive figure skating background), but several of the women who play in my women's league also play co-ed, especially the ones who played in college. |
I meant I'll only ever play in a women's league. I do clinics occasionally with men, and it's fine, but a big part of why I enjoy playing is the camaraderie with other women. |
