Here is the National Review exposé

It is behind a paywall.

Summary: CCP-linked entities have in recent years leveraged millions in donations to secure the school’s strategically vital intellectual property, according to internal documents obtained by the watchdog group Parents Defending Education (PDE) and shared with National Review. After collecting generous donations through an affiliated nonprofit, TJ administrators handed the blueprint to America’s top-ranked STEM school — including its curriculum, syllabi, and floor plans — to America’s rival: the CPP, who plans to create numerous "clones" of TJ in China.

The Governor has ordered an investigation.

I think the Thomas schools deal is overblown. The curriculum and syllabi aren't anything special. This just looks like a poor attempt by the Chinese to create their own "TJ superkids" or whatever, even though the magic with TJ has always been giving the kids free rein (which, I understand, isn't a popular idea in Chinese education.)

Wasn’t it school board that changed admissions or are posters here saying that was driven by principal? Not sure how that is something they could even pull off if wanted to.

It was school board. TJ admissions isn't run by the school, they operate the whole thing out of Gatehouse.

School Board made the decision but Bonitatibus was very supportive and became a public enemy for the Coalition types like Asra Nomani.

Yes, good for TJ.
Now she is going to ruin the FCPS.

She kicked out the excellent teachers/staffs and had to hire under qualified ones.
Hope that won’t happen again.

He was not a nice person. I don’t think he would have any support to be the principal.

She was awful but not because she changed admissions. That was the school board. She was awful because she came to the school with the intent to change it - without even getting to know the school or the kids. She never seemed to like the school or understand the kids. And she sent the worst letter to all families in June 2020, when the kids didn’t have school because of Covid snd had missed important rites such as prom and graduation, telling us to check our privilege. So condescending and tone deaf.

Media has picked up the story:

https://www.fox5dc.com/news/principal-top-ranked-virginia-high-school-resigns

“ Across the county, parents, teachers, and students are celebrating. Since Ann Bonitatibus came to the school, the rankings of the school have gone from No. 1 to No. 14. The number of National Merit semifinalists has gone from about 150 to 80, and dozens of teachers and staff have left the school. Her resignation is a perfect example of failing up – where she is now heading to the district level, ironically for talent acquisition when, in fact, she’s driven talent from the school," Nomani said.
