Same here. I do it when I'm working in the kitchen in the evenings to add some chill vibe to the work. |
| I've listed things I liked to get and things I have given and lots of these Hostess gift threads. Somebody always turns their noses up at some of the items. |
| As far as hostess gifts - wine, or a set of pretty cocktail napkins from ikea or Europe. I pick up unique cloth ones at estate sales and give those to hostesses who are eco conscious |
We were on the deck at my mom's house and DH looked inside and saw that a candle had somehow caught the reusable target bag on fire. We have no idea how it happened. The bag wasn't over the candle at all when my mom lit it and it wasn't a new candle so it wasn't like the flame was high. We figured the air shift from opening and closing the patio door just made the bag or handle fall over. Definitely quite scary and could have been bad! |
| I use and gift candles (for birthdays, not hostess) but they're $70+ brands and I'm pretty picky about them. |
|
Rarely.
I have two scented candles that my mom gave me as a gift and i light them maybe 1-2 per year. I’ve had the same candles for over a decade now. And birthday cake candles. |
| Never inside. I burn them outside sometimes. |
Wow, $70 candles. |
That's the average cost for Dyptique, Jo Malone, Jonathan Adler, Michael Aram, etc |
Same but it was a friend’s neighbor. They put them in their stainless steel sink and extinguished them but left one out that they forgot. |
We once caught a newspaper on fire turning the epage. No more candles... I think hostess gifts are like goodie bags. Everyone s definition of junk us different. I prefer nothing |

Hostess gift varies. I often do Velatis candy — since it’s delicious, a local product, and everyone I’ve given it to really likes it, especially the sugary caramels and the toffees. The best hostess gift that I’ve given was probably a Lego set — but I knew that it would be a hit with the people that I gave it to.
|
Same. Leery of candles. |
| Only rarely, only inside hurricane vases because I’m scared of fire, and only unscented ones because the scented ones make me sneeze. |
|
I can't stand candles. I've gotten a few as gifts and they've never been lit. When they get too dusty, I throw them away.
I should regift as a PP mentioned. |
