Adult child stoned …

What grown adult with a young adult son thinks smoking weed regularly is normal? Or at all?
No wonder he has a problem.

In what ways do you keep enabling him, OP?

What’s the problem?

There was a vote and now it’s legal. It’s what the majority wanted.

He needs intervention and rehab. You need to stop using NOW in order to support him and to live your best life drug free

Funny. Alcohol is also legal and if OP had said her child was drinking all day and experiencing related life setbacks a normal response would be, rehab for the alcoholism. Same goes for weed. Legal doesn’t mean it is a healthy lifestyle choice, especially when it is actively screwing up a life.

You start with addiction treatment for the whole family. It is a disease. Good luck!

Occasional weed smoking is neither an addiction nor a disease.

Also, she is talking about her adult son. Other than expressing concern there is nothing to be done.

It's illegal for a reason.

<still a schedule 1 drug as classified by the federal government. Legal in DC and 23 states.

Legal or illegal, addiction is addiction.

My party did not advocate for legalization.

Classy i guess addiction runs in the family.

Failure to launch- very typical and weed just keeps extending childhood for a select few. This is not new.

DS and I are concerned that we enable and now we are concerned that the level of THC ingested has done and will continue to do damage to his health, ability to help support his family and overall quality of life.

Is there anything we can do? We have been smoking weed for forever … so we aren’t examples of abstinence and we feel so full of shame that we have perhaps opened the door to this unhealthy crutch.

They learned it by watching YOU!

Thanks for the PSA, fellow Gen Xer.

We're having fried eggs for dinner tonight, hoping I can get through to the kids about what drugs to to the brain.

Great. Just because a "majority" wanted it does not mean that it's a good thing. The majority can be unwise and uneducated.

I hate how our cities now reek of weed. DC and NY did not use to smell like this.

Last month, we attended an NFL game in Kansas City (Ravens v Chiefs), and the stadium reeked of weed that people were smoking near the concession stands and the bathrooms.

Alcohol is not great either, but at least it does not pollute the air with a bad smell.

My DH (age 52) has friends who smoked a lot of weed in high school in the 80's. They came from nice upper middle class families and had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, their decision to have fun and smoke weed has had a harmful impact on the trajectory of their lives.

Adult child is an oxymoron.

Stoned.
Wow, I had no idea people even used that term anymore.
