I think it’s about the same as DCUM except people actually have a courage to publish comments under their real names.
Same topics. |
Lots of lost dogs Asking for a recommendation for a home repair or improvement and getting contractors replying What’s that siren for Anywhere hear a helicopter What’s this bug Cars broken into That encompasses mine. |
It’s old people over there. Neighborhood watch types. There is a different type of crazy over here. |
What is Nextdoor even used for?

The ones I hate are when people take a picture of someone and make claims that the person did something terrible. It's their word against the person being filmed. Then everyone jumps all over the subject in the photo and become enraged lunatics, taking everything the OP says at face value. |
As the saying goes, "Most of the highly 'educated' are actually just highly indoctrinated." |
75% of my NextDoor is filled with annoying dog and cat photos. (Love animals but still…) |
Best joke I have heard all day! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Lady on our street posts outrageous nonsense on Nextdoor, gets pilloried in the responses, then pulls her post down a day later. And she keeps doing it. |

It's not even useful for what it should be useful for. When I moved from one part of NoVA to another and considered getting someone in to clean once a week, I posted asking for recommendations. I didn't get a single rec from someone who actually has someone who does this, but got about 75 DMs from people wanting to do it. Virtually all of them with no references, and some of them likely scammers wanting payment in advance. |
It's those honorary ivies that ruin it on this board. |
+1 I was on a moderated forum the other day and in culture shock because people are so much nicer than here. |
Actually, there is a woman in our Bethesda neighborhood who periodically changes her nom de plume so she can post screeds about other people’s behavior and fabricated family crises. Of course everyone knows it’s her. |
Sure. What a joke. ![]() |
