| It's not hard to find a dress when you're open to any color. Much harder when you need a specific non-black color that also fits, flatters, and is comfortable. OP is also short and probably could use a petite size. Go ahead, fashion critics, find her a dress. |
I would never have thought to order from JJ's House, but my daughter found a prom dress she loved last year, so we did. I was amazed at the quality, especially for the low price. You can have the dress custom sized or just order a traditional size. Her dress was gorgeous. Personally, I don't think OP *has* to find a dress in burgundy, but since that's what she requested. Lots of others on this website.

| OP here. Thanks for all of the recs and suggestions. Yes. Apparently securing a flattering dress in a particular color that is not too tight, not too revealing, kid wrangling friendly, and not grandmother like is equivalent to tracking down a unicorn. |

i just did a search on the real real for maroon cocktail dresses and there were a lot of nice options that aren't particularly tight, cheap looking, or matronly. for some reason i'm getting forbidden message when i try to post the links - but if you have the patience for trr, might be worth a look over there. |
