Local 2021 class had 29 high level D1 recruits. 2025 currently has 20.
My guess is that between DCE, NL, VLC, Madlax etc, there will be about 25 or so total in the 2026 class by the it’s over at the end of next summer. No need for panic. |
Think poster meant Capital Blue. Beyond that, it will be tough to get onto one of the top 20 teams. There just isn’t that depth of talent in D.C. Baltimore probably has 3 teams that can place girls on top 20 teams. That’s not a knock on D.C. just reality. As long as girls expectations are in line with reality there is a spot for everyone that wants to play in college. |
There's already a 2026 player committed to Navy, which is allowed to contact players July 1, so the class is off is a good start.
And by the way, I would not consider lower D1 or D3 unsuccessful. If my son can use lacrosse to get accepted to an elite academic school, and have a ready made friend group the day he hits campus, I would consider that a huge success. |
I would agree. I think the point the poster was making is that many parents think their kids are top 20 prospects but they should be setting their sites for top D3 schools or good academic D1 schools outside the top 20. |
Thanks, I will just set my sights on a top academic then. |
Since we are less than a week away from the beginning of the contact period, you should already have received feedback about where your DS or DD fits with respect to their playing level in college. If that is not the case then your advisors are not doing their jobs/obligations. |
Well, ok then. Now that that's established, don't know how much that matters. They'll have a pretty good idea a week or way less in. |
Will not reach level of 2022. |
Special class |
2022 area class had 24 high level D1 recruits. Less than 2021. SJC team that year was special and had the most high level recruits with 5. Number of high level D1 commits by year. 2021. 29 2022. 24 2023. 19 2024. 26 2025. 20 Average across the five years - 23.6 Some points of interest which should be obvious. - most come from Prep, Bullis, Landon, Gonzaga, SJC - win loss record closely correlates with how many each team has - IAC and WCAC provide almost all recruits. |
Just curious as to how you are counting ‘high level’ D1 commits. Where do you draw the line from a D1 commit vs a high level D1 commit? |
This matters a ton. Several of the clubs on the boys side do not manage expectations well at all, especially ML and DCE. NL does a good job of it. My question is how many of the boys that manage to land interest from a top 20 program are true 26s or are they reclassed at some point in their past? |
I am not sure where you are getting your numbers or what you consider a high level D1 but that is subjective. A quick glance at the club websites: 2023 Next Level: D1-20 plus high level D3 Bowdoin, W&L, CNU 2023 Madlax DC Dogs D1 -15 Plus several high level D3 2023 VLC D1-11 Commitments plus a few NESCAC and CNU I know that DCE and even Blackwolf had more so that is closer to 50+ D1 commitments not to mention a few were out of state clubs but players that played for WCAC and IAC teams. There are also at least 10 from public schools. There are 46 just at these three clubs. You would really need to explain getting the number to 19. |
People need to specify if talking boys or girls. Very different. 22 for girls was bad. 25 for girls was great. |
If you are following along, a reference to Gonzaga, Madlax, or VLC would be a clue as to which the poster is referring to. |
