No, my kids signed up for theirs on their own. And the school registers them for in school test. The only reason you might need to be involved is payment if your child doesn’t have a debit or credit card.

Thanks! Very helpful.

You must check with the school. It varies and it varies year by year.

Both got all 5's in every exam they took.

Thrilled!

You have their college board log ins?

I have my child’s college board login as I booked the SAT for them but I did not check the SAT scores before they told me what they were and will not check the AP scores either. It feels like an invasion of privacy to me

+1

Me too, but if this came out a week from now when DS is away with no phone for three weeks, he’s want me to snail mail him w results.

Sure I believe that the parents checking and then posting to DCUM before 5:30 am eastern are chill and give their kids any privacy.

My son says he doesn't want to check. He feels like he got a 3, which is not what he wanted. It is up to him, it seems odd not to look and find out, but it's not my test.

My ds got a 3 in Spanish and Precalc, and a 4 in Environmental. He is just happy he passed the first two which he said were very hard!

I got up at 2am on the West Coast. For us it is very strongly linked to applications to the UK where the AP result is taken as the equivalent of an A level. Without them, no offers.

Curious, is a 3 viewed as bad or good?

Freshman got a 5 in AP Gov. Great for her first AP exam!

Is a 4 considered bad? Should DC not list it on his colleges apps?

We were woken up by our kid at 4:30 am, who was thrilled to have gotten a 5 on one of his tests (14 year old without much self control). I think I'd have preferred that he did worse and let us sleep. (Joking. Mostly.)

Its a C grade.
For the colleges and courses my kids are applying to, they need multiple 5's in the relevant subjects.
So no a 3 is not "good" as such.
