Do you think your kid is cuter than average?

I think my kids are very cute, but I'd also be hard pressed to name a kid who my kids are in contact with regularly who isn't very cute. Then again, my oldest is 5, and I know at some point, things can start to average out (heck, even I was cute at 5!).

Yes, I think my DD is cuter than average. But, I agree with OP's mom... I think every parent thinks this. I'm not sure we're the best judges. People do stop us all the time and compliment her every day, though, so for right now, it's not just me.

my kid is heart-stoppingly cute. like the PP, complete strangers talk about how cute he is all the time, so i dont think it's all mommy goggles.

I think DS is the cutest boy in the world, but I will admit that he is not the most handsome. I think there are other boys that are "better looking" than DS.

PP I wouldn't use this as your barometer. I compliment almost every baby I see, whether or not the baby is actually all that cute.

Of course, I happen to think my 7-month-old DS is the cutest baby on the planet. He is so fat and bald and happy. I too get lots of compliments from strangers but as some PPs said, that may be more because he likes to smile and make eye contact than the fact that he is physically adorable. Although he is.

How do you account for so many ugly kids in the area?

DS is cute but not any cuter than the average five year old. I think he will be a good looking man though I wouldn't say he would be exceedingly handsome.
DD on the other hand is an average looking child but I can tell she is going to be a stunning adult. You know, as long as she lays off the meth, cigs, junk food and she doesn't have a hard life.

I definitely think my DS is cuter than average, however, I do think I have a bit of mommy goggles. I mean his facial structure is surely very handsome, he's pretty in a very natural way (no weird baby goofiness to his face), but I've seen some stunning children out there.

Our is very pretty, some say gorgeous. The other day someone told me she looked like a model in a picture we took of her in her jammies and messed up bed hair. She's only two and a happy, smiling, well-behaved toddler so I think that makes people find her more beautiful.

I was going to say the same thing.

And, sometimes, if a kid is particularly well-behaved or smiley, it makes me think they're 'cute' also so I'll say that.

Doesn't every parent think their kids is above average cute? Which is as it should be.

OK, I'll admit it. My kids are not as cute as yours. Sure, to me they're adorable, but if I look by traditional metrics of "cuteness" ... ehh, not so much. But you knew someone had to be on the other side ... this isn't lake Wobegon.

I say this because she's got a perfectly straight nose, high cheekbones, almond-shaped green eyes -- all bone structure kind of things. Not anything she gets from me!

ha!
here is Gisele B and her TWIN sister...

and look what a good girl she was

But that's the thing, I don't see many ugly kids in the area. But keep in mind, I'm talking about the 6 and under set, and in my experience, kids can get a lot more homely in the early tween years even if they're cute preschoolers.

I have one or two friends with really homely pre-schoolers. But the majority are super-cute, and their parents would be right to say they were above average. Even thought I know those numbers don't work out!
