Me also. She is what, 17 games into her professional career and her team has a losing record. To say that so far she is being over hyped is an understatement. I can easily see how other WNBA players might dislike all the attention she is getting. What is amusing though, is all the stories about her rivals being jealous of her. We always say that the men don't know how to act, but it seems that the women can be even worse. |
| I think she's great and has certainly awakened lots of interest in the WNBA. A massive talent, and the more hate she gets the bigger she gets. It's awesome to watch |
|
Tbh the negativity towards her is also racial in nature. Lots of black women hustling for low wages for years in the WNBA and then this young woman is elevated as a white savior despite never winning an NCAA championship. Sure she may be the leading scorer, but she can’t close the deal.
I see her as the female Kobe Bryant - tons of possession time, tons of points, lots of attention. But sometimes that comes at the detriment of the team. Let’s see if she can become A Closer. Only Closers get rings. |
Michael Jordan’s Bulls had a losing record his rookie season. Troy Aikman’s Cowboys were 1-15 his rookie season. Give her time and see how she develops. |
Of course “she” can’t close the deal. It’s a team sport. You win and lose as a team, not an individual. What a stupid comment. |
She broke multiple records as a college player, and at a school that made the final twice despite not having a roster of top recruits like other schools. Her shooting range is like Steph Curry and her passing ability is like a Nikola Jokic. Of course she’s going to attract attention that some tall post player who mostly rebounds and shoots layups won’t attract. The WNBA is mostly black women and/or lesbians who saw the league largely as their private club, so of course she generates resentment and a more-than-typical amount of initiation, but in the long run they will all adapt and it’s good for the game in the USA. We’ve already watched the women’s soccer team slip into the second tier after years of dominance and the same thing could happen with women’s basketball in the USA absent sustained interest and attention. Clark isn’t the only young player who’ll continue to attract talented young women to the game. So will Angel, A’ja, Sabrina and others. |

Ane yet the WNBA is still slated to lose $50M this year and is desperate for the NBA subsidy.
When will it ever make profit? No one cares. |
| She has done a good job taking the high road. |
Since you brought it up - her style is terrible. |
I know it was brought up by pp, but do we have to go down the path of her style is good/bad? |
Way to slam so many people in one sentence. |
Go to another thread to talk about men's sports. Just because you don't care doesn't mean "no one cares" I don't care about men's sports but, certainly I know many people do. |

Boston will be the next top sports announcer.
She natural and intelligent both IQ and EQ and has charisma. |
|
I would rather watch random little kids play basketball at a local rec center than the WNBA. The gaslighting, manipulation and media astroturfing involved in trying to make saps watch (and gamble on!) that awful league is on another level.
The WNBA lost $50mm this last season for a reason: It is awful. The women can't play, they are slow, miss most shots, and frankly, 99% of them are angry and hideous. |

The only women's sport that gets decent ratings is...women's tennis? And tennis is pretty niche. And I guess USA soccer once every 4 years?
Nobody wants to watch women play sports. Women's golfers are extremely talented but it's still boring and unwatchable with terrible ratings. |
