| Admissions Director left to be HoS, an upgrade of a position. Sad, okay, but understandable. Onward and upward. |
| Lower School parent here...who has a DD in the US too. (Yes, there's a gap!) Look, Bullis is way more competitive than it has ever been. Apparently, even its detractors acknowledge this. It has nothing to do with the Director of Admissions (amazing though he has been) - it's the approach of the board, and clearly, that has changed dramatically over the last four years. The school is almost unrecognizable. Poor teachers have been let go or left because they don't like the new standards. That's OK. Change is hard. But the prospective and current parents like it - they are applying in droves and staying once they are in. Hence, it is more competitive. |
My child was in tears the last day of school because they found out their favorite teacher was leaving. Every single teacher my child had in lower school has left…which is crazy to me because they were fantastic and helped my child be the confident learner that they are today. We are currently researching other privates, as we are witnessing the school implode. The decisions being made at the top are questionable and while Gerald Boarman was problematic, at least it felt like he cared about the students and finding amazing teachers. |
| With only one exception, the teachers that are leaving that we know about were the weak ones. |
| When did anyone think of Bullis as "selective"? |
When they started to have the ability to be selective. Covid really helped the school, and the failing publics continue to do Bullis a favor for those that can afford it. More applicants for less spots=more selective |
| Newsflash, any time there is a new HOS (or principal in a public school, we have one in public and one at Bullis) there is massive turnover. Sometimes people clash, sometimes the new leader wants to implement change that the entrenched don't want to make, whatever. People leave jobs for all kinds of reasons, and since the pandemic, when Bullis was one of the first schools to remain open for in person education, Bullis has only gotten better and better. |
I have a hard time believing the admissions director had much if anything to do with Bullis getting more selective. The massive increase in applications in the last few years have allowed Bullis to be more selective, and those have been driven by COVID, the continued decline of MCPS, and Bullis' improved reputation. |
| I am really sad that many of the teachers who are leaving are, in fact, very strong. This is not a case of just "weeding" out the weak teachers. The well-respected diversity director left mid-year. We have been told that teachers are not crazy about the HOS. There have definitely been great strides made toward becoming a stronger school. But re-hiring the previous Admissions Director is not one of them. |
You are such a bad liar. Why would your child be in tears? He/she wasn’t going to have this alleged favorite teacher next year even if the teacher was staying. Just another obvious lie posted by a very small group of former disgruntled employees posing as parents. No one believes you. Troll better. |

Seriously, whoever this person is - Bullis PR, HOS, deranged parent - you are seriously weird and a very poor representative for the school. Anyone who has been on DCUM knows that, in this universe, Bullis is not terribly well-regarded. If there are that many “disgruntled employees” then that’s another issue. Add this whacko to the mix and you really do have a problem. |

Yawn. Not true. |
Not true. You are delusional. |
