Women Question - Why wingless maxi pads? Particularly wingless overnight pads

Anonymous
Period days are gone (Thank god for menopause), but I hated the wings. They either came unstuck and stuck to me, or they stuck too well and left sticky residue on my underwear.
It seems like opinions might vary depending on how heavy your flow is. My periods were relatively light so I rarely needed that extra protection.

Wings always warp and move way more than wingless for me. No idea why. That said, at night I wear the period undies, a pad, and a tampon, and at times I still leak. Ugh, thanks perimenopause.

as a wiggler, wings it must be.

No wings for me! They chafe, and they make the gusset smaller which means more leaking. I like a long wingless during the day.

At night I use a fabric pad that is very long (longer than a disposable overnight pad) and it's held on by wings, but they aren't narrow and the fabric doesn't chafe.

That’s a genius idea. And they’t fall apart?

First thing I do is tear them off by hand.
On a separate note if someone listening can start a company and bring back the liners of yore that aren’t practically transparent, stick, and are longer than 2”, I’d be grateful.

Wow, crazy. I thought everyone preferred wings so as to avoid splurting on underpants. I thought the people who bought liners/non wings used them for incontinence.

I hate the wings. I wear a tampon and wingless pads on heavy days.

I haven't worn a pad in thirty years. Yuck.

I'm this pp, and no, they don't fall apart. I just make the wings narrower so they lay flat and don't have creases or exposed sticky edges. The downside is that I have to take time to pre-trim several pads at a time so they're read when I need them. Also, when I go to remove the pad, sometimes the mini-wings rip off and stay stuck so I have to take some time to pull those off. In all, they are much more comfortable with the adjustment.

If your flow is heavy, it goes over the wings directly onto your pants. Better to cut the wings off or buy ones without wings.

I am 55 so I grew up the majority of my teens using wingless pads & I HATED it.

I leaked so much + ruined a ton of good underwear. 🤬

Once I began using pads w/wings…..I never have been able to go back since!

Best. invention. ever.
