I wear a bikini top on top - but you could wear a tankini or rashguard, if you like.

How are these different from regular running type shorts? They appear to be the same fabric and a similar cut. Why not just wear running shorts over your regular swimsuit?

They are shorter than running shorts and have a built in bathing suit bottom. They're really comfortable and I think they look better than a skirt.

I wear Athleta swim shorts (the "Surge" style with built-in liner) and a bikini top. Rashguard over the bikini top when I want more sun protection. I think it looks cute (enough) and sporty, whereas I've never seen a swim skirt or swim dress that didn't look frumpy.

I have a Rip Skirt from Rip Skirt Hawaii. You just put it on over your swimsuit and take it off when you get in the water, then put it back on once youre dry. It can also get wet. I love it and it has lasted for years.

I’m sure I will look ridiculous but I’m seriously considering something like this for summer at the pool with my kids. I hate putting on sunscreen and I kind of don’t care how I look. I’m just at the pool to Mom.

When I see people wearing things like that, I just assume they have either had or are at risk for skin cancer (or burn easily).

I also like the LandsEnd Swim leggings and swim hoodie.

I’m not at the pool to look cute obviously. But the freedom from worry about sunscreen everywhere is lovely.

I like my swim skirts from lands end. They make mini ones that are a-line or straight line like a golf skirt. Anything that is flowy or ruffled looks grandma-ish but I think these look sporty and they’re short so you will need to shave (get an electric trimmer! Life changing). I pair them with a tankini top or a tank top.

+1 for swim shorts. The best I have found are the Alder 5” Surfs Up short. I wear them for outdoorsy adventures too.
