Not my style but if you're going to go super cutesy, I'd consider Molly at least. A slight notch above Polly and Poppy. |
Sloane sounds like groan Laura sounds like Laura ingalls wilder Celia you're breaking my heart You can do this with any name. OP likes these names. |
Strong odds OP is committed to using P for the name, perhaps to honor a family member. Thus why these three names. |
Honestly, good for you. I like the long name/cute nickname combo, but it's your baby and you sound confident in your choices. I always respect an OP who won't be bullied by people on these boards about names. Also I actually do like Poppy and Polly. I am someone who will never not think of Pippa Middleton when I hear Pippa but since you aren't giving birth to a 45 year old woman, this is unlikely to be an important cultural touchstone for her. |
They’re all terrible, just put them in a hat and pick one. |
Poppy
Polly Pippa |
Why not? It's cruel to not give your child the dignity of a real name. |
You are terrible. What’s your name? |
Really? Who gets to say what is a “real” name? |
Any siblings?
I think I'll say Polly is my favorite (underused!), then Pippa (cute but so tied to Pippa Middleton), then Poppy (cute, but ... same as PP ... I know many dogs named Poppy). |
If you love all three, you can't go wrong with any of them. I knew a "Poppy" when I was in college and she was an incredibly funny, warm, lovely person. So, I tend to lean towards Poppy. But Pippa and Polly are also charming. Best wishes to you! |
They are also all pet names. |
Pippa or Polly.
There are just way too many white poodles named Poppy for this not to be a thing for your kid someday. |
Folks any name can be a pet name. I know pets named Nora, Lily, Iris, Ruby, and Dinah. People choose names for their pets that are appealing, have positive associations, and are easy to say. Guess what, those are also great criteria for human names.
You need to get over the "dog name" thing. |
I'd rather my kid share a name with some neighborhood dogs than even one neighborhood kid, actually. People do not actually confuse dogs and kids a lot. |
