Thank you. I do not really know what a cloud is. I'm afraid to get rid of my 6 year old iphone because it has my daughter's newborn videos (and all the other photos from the last 6 years) and I don't know how to store them, protect them. Sigh. Wish there was some in-person, one hour class I could attend to tell me the essentials.

You can get this support from Apple in one of their Apple stores. You need to make an appointment at their genius bar, but they will help you one on one. It sounds like their service would be perfect for you and it should be free, https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

We don’t use a family calendar. I keep it all my iPhone and inform hubby when necessary.

I am always so puzzled by folks who are this tech illiterate. Boomers I get but anyone born in the 80s or later….

+1 for Cozi. Easy to access on phones or laptops. We also keep our weekly meal plan and a running grocery list in there as well.

Still have a paper calendar for “the big picture” but Cozi works for the day-to-day. We especially like the list feature and the easy color coding for individual family members. At least once a year they’ll run a sale on the paid version but “free” works well too.

I'm this PP....but we've changed from Cozi. The "free" version is going to only show 30 days worth (definitely not enough time to plan ahead). We've transitioned over to Apple's Remind/Calendar. It's a little data intensive (for those watching their data usage) and if you run out of cloud space you can't update but we're making it work. Kinda miss the ability to color code who the activity is for. Tried having our own individual calendars and shared with family members but it was generally too confusing so now we just roll with "(Mom)" or "(DC1)" appended to the event title if it's not obvious.

I do really like the travel time option as well as it picking up an address from your contact list.

Pretty soon both DCs will be gone from the nest and none of it'll matter.

Amazing, though, we all still consult the paper version hanging on the fridge. It still only holds the "big picture" stuff but it's worthwhile if for nothing else to see how "far" in the future something really is. It's way too easy to just scroll on down. It also gives plausible deniability -- "I gotta check the family calendar at home" -- when put on the spot to do/attend something. :p

We have a shared google calendar that we color code and a Skylight calendar that syncs to the colors and we have on our counter. It's great, we LOVE it - my kids don't have phones yet so it's helpful for them to look at the Skylight first thing in the morning to see what they have going on that day.

Let me guess, you don't work.

Google. I don't want a million different apps.

We use iCloud calendar, we were on Google, but it escapes me why I made the switch!

Google works great, I remember, but there was some benefit to iCloud but escapes me

Anonymous wrote:There is a new app called Podz on the apple app store and on google play designed specifically for a shared family calendar. It has a lot of the same features as Cozi but a much better interface and it is free and has no ads (Cozi is overrun with advertisements and it constantly asks you to upgraded to the paid version). I also like that Podz has chat and photo galleries, to do lists, reminders, and optional location sharing. It also has a contacts section where we put aunts, uncles, doctor information, etc. The app has polls - my family uses them for things like where we should go on vacation or to dinner (not needed, but they are fun). You can easily synchronize with any calendar - you just go to the More | Synchronization option and choose any of your calendars. I was able to bring in all of our calendars into one place. At first we maintained other calendars, but now we just do everything in Podz.

This page has some more info, with links to download from the App Store and Google Play: https://strikebright.com/Podz

Ahh, how cute, guerilla marketing from a local Maryland business.

https://www.strikebright.com/ (note the 301 area code).

Their main business is selling app development services, so I wouldn't invest too heavily to their Cozi clone, I suspect it will be ad-revenue soon or lay fallow.

Or they can spin it off into its own business and give it a proper website, etc.

I appreciate all the replies. I guess I'll check out Cozi. The replies about google...I really needed people to respond to me like I'm an idiot, which I am when it comes to this stuff. I did set up a google calendar yesterday that seems to be linked to my gmail, but I have no idea how to color code for each family member, or how to link DH, who doesn't have gmail (he has yahoo and outlook for work). I need something where he can see what's going on. That skyframe thing sounds intriguing, too...the two younger children don't have phones and they're always asking me "What do I have tomorrow?" so would be nice for there to be a calendar they could check.

Don't use Cozi, it's completely unnecessary. Here's how to color code on Google Calendar: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/12377581?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

And here's how to share it with your husband: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082?hl=en&sjid=1455729895975170899-NA

We use the calendar on the iPhone and we all use it. Each of us puts our commitments on there. Some are labeled family so we all see them. All of DD activities work hours and appointments are visible to both parents. Helps us stay on top of her.

+1. It's like OP is a boomer. But obviously not.
