Your DH will need to set up a google account to access and use google calendar. It is really not a big deal to set up an account, and this does not mean he would need to use gmail as his email account.

Thank you. I do not really know what a cloud is. I'm afraid to get rid of my 6 year old iphone because it has my daughter's newborn videos (and all the other photos from the last 6 years) and I don't know how to store them, protect them. Sigh. Wish there was some in-person, one hour class I could attend to tell me the essentials.

I appreciate all the replies. I guess I'll check out Cozi. The replies about google...I really needed people to respond to me like I'm an idiot, which I am when it comes to this stuff. I did set up a google calendar yesterday that seems to be linked to my gmail, but I have no idea how to color code for each family member, or how to link DH, who doesn't have gmail (he has yahoo and outlook for work). I need something where he can see what's going on. That skyframe thing sounds intriguing, too...the two younger children don't have phones and they're always asking me "What do I have tomorrow?" so would be nice for there to be a calendar they could check.

I would treat this like an emergency if I were you. You really need to find someone to help you secure those photos and videos in the cloud or on a second device. You’re going be devastated if your phone dies or you lose it. Apple technical support is also a good idea.

We do the Google calendar with color coding also. But we do not have the Skylight frame. We’ve had this in place for 8 years and have had very few hiccups. We can also share certain calendars with grandparents (like a kid’s sport schedule since they like to attend)

OP, I would find an Apple Store and set up an appointment with the Genius Bar to help you. Or alternatively pay some teen in the neighborhood with an iPhone to help you set up cloud backup as well as transfer an extra copy of all your photos onto your computer. It shouldn't take long and shouldn't be a big deal. It would be so sad if you lost those newborn photos.

OP - don't use iCal, it's awful (plus then you are stuck using apple products forever, what if something new and more innovative comes around in 10 years?). My entire family has iPhones and we use Google calendar. If my 80 year old dad can use Google calendar, you can too.

I don't understand why anyone would pay for an app when there are perfectly good calendars around for free. OP - you could even use Yahoo calendar if that's what you have. Don't pay for Cozi, I tried it once and it's useless.

We have a giant paper calendar from the paper source hanging in the kitchen. I still like throwing things on there and seeing things giant sized. I can see why we would benefit from using our iPhone calendars, though. Maybe 2025 is our year.

How do you get the Google calendar to show up automatically? The only way we can do anything is by inviting each time. It used to be automatic.
