No coffee no prana. Just limit yourself to one cup. No need to give it up. |
If you like the taste, why give it up entirely? Decaf coffee still has some of the antioxidants (huge health benefits). |
Not necessary to avoid coffee entirely when pregnant, but—depending on how much a person drinks per day— there are advisable ranges. I had to give up coffee while pregnant because it made me nauseous during the first trimester, and baby hated it during second and third trimesters (lots of spastic movement afterward that didn’t feel good ). I encountered many women with similar experiences and many who drank coffee without incident. |

It depends on the person. Some people are sensitive to caffeine's effects on cortisol. |
Many people drink it all day. It adds up to a lot of caffeine. They are addicts. And they sleep like crap and don’t understand why. ![]() |
I tried to give up my morning coffee and switch to tea but I just ended up drinking a ton of tea. Presumably my body trying to get the same amount of caffeine. Seemed pointless. Giving both up wasn’t hard it was just boring. Depriving myself of a morning pleasure. |
I gave up caffeine for a while. Withdrawal was really tough. Personally, I moved to decaf coffee. I'm very fussy - buy my beans directly from Intelligentsia or Peets. Both of those taste awesome to me in decaf. It won't help with the withdrawal either way. I would definitely recommend lowering the caffeine gradually if you are a person that's on five cups a day, as I was. BTW - after five years not having caffeine, I started again, but maybe it's my body I find I don't want really more than a cup a day (early in the day). |
It depends on why you’re giving up coffee. I gave it up because I really didn’t like the taste and used a lot of sugar or creamer to make it taste good. Or I’d order a sugar laden vanilla iced coffee if I was out somewhere. I now make green tea at home as I can drink that with no sugar. If I’m out, I just skip it entirely. |
I did it second week of January. Cold turkey.
Back story I have chronic cough that nothing stops. I drank at least three per day. I got sick, now we know it was mono. I was so sick and could not drink much other than water. I tried coffee as I normally would, and I coughed my guts out. So, after 4 days of being really sick, and I could not have coffee, I was over headaches and all, bcs well I had everything hurting anyway. So, in a way, being ill got me over the headache side effect of stopping coffee. Oh, and I luckily had some ginseng tea at home. Now I drink ginseng tea and other teas. (It is way too expensive to just chug ginseng tea.) |
Well, caffeine addition is real. DH chugs soda all day long and then has this "I don't ever sleep" mantra... Gosh safe me! Of course you don't sleep, you just had Dr Pepper at 9 PM! |
I drank no coffee or caffeine in pregnancies! Both kids hyper all the time, one has AHDH. So, maybe if I drank it, they would be less active? Does that logic make sense????? |
Off topic, but please explain to me what is chai latte? I mean it is just tea with milk, no? Chai is the word for tea in many countries, in my birth country too. Is it just English breakfast tea then? |
