Is April 10 a school holiday?

No, it's FCPS fault that they started closing for explicitly religious holidays.

I’m thinking this is not a teacher. This holiday is not a free day off because the school year would just be one day longer. It’s still 180 days.

They always did that, you just didn’t notice or mind because they were your culturally recognized holidays . You have never once gone to school on Christmas Day

Chill.

PP wants the holiday to shift to Monday, so they can see the eclipse without missing a school day.

I would LOVE for spring break to be disassociated from Easter so it wasn’t the absolute peak for booking travel.

I don’t think they add extra days to the school year in my school system. And no, I’m not a teacher btw.

I am OP. We are deciding whether to return on Tuesday or Wednesday. If the holiday moves to Tuesday, then we will return on Tuesday to miss fewer days of school.

The answer seems to be Maybe.

What? EID might move? Teacher here so curious if that’s true.

It can change since it’s based on the moon. They have to predict a date for it when they make calendars but occasionally it can move up or back by a day.

So they might change the calendar? That seems crazy given how set it is!

Sorry, we have to wait for some random dude to look at the moon before we know.

Ridiculous way to run a public school system.

I am Muslim and we know the days way in advance, I guess its like Easter, FCPS just doesn't seem to know or care....

I lived in the Middle East for five years and we always waited until the official announcement (i.e. sighting of the moon). The dates on the calendar were always considered to be tentative.

Perhaps but it would only be by a day

Wait. If Eid moves from the 10th, will FCPS move the day off of school? Or will they keep the 10th off and the ninth or 11th or whatever will become an excused day away?

Guys, they would just change the day that is a day off. If it moves, the 9th would be the day off and the 10th would become a school day. This isn’t rocket science.
