The Bible and Gays

Anonymous
There’s no such as “the bible,” since none of the stories were written by one person or contemporaneously with any of the events or stories. Therefore the Bible doesn’t actually “say” anything about gays, other than what certain men, mostly during the Middle Ages, decided it should say. Therefore, it’s meaningless to argue about the particular words in whatever bible one happens to have.

We are all made in God's image.

I think of it as adultery. It’s a nonconforming act outside marriage. I don’t hate people who are gay and I wouldn’t discriminate against them but I believe it’s a sin so I’m
certainly not going to condone it. But I’m not the one committing it, so it’s between them and God. If this offends anyone, I don’t care, because I’m still treating them with the same respect I would anyone else but I have every right to believe it’s still a sin.

NP. It’s not a Christian marriage to people who believe it is a sin.

You have to recognize that sin isn’t necessarily abhorrent behavior, the Greek origin of the term is “missing the mark,” or anything that draws you further from Christ. No one is condemned because Christ died for us, so no matter HOW sinful you are God still adores you. But a sin is still a sin.

Tell us more about these people. Who are they? How do you know them? What are they saying and when?

That's your opinion. Mine is the opposite. We all have opinions

They don’t think Jews are married either.

I tell them I will I will pray for them because their words and deeds are leading them to hell.

sexual sin is sexual sin (sodomy is a sin crying out to God for vengeance, however). why are people getting so hung up on the gay part? Hetero couples practicing sodomy or other sexual sin are going to be judged just the same

This is a good answer.

Judging who? Some actions are sins. Theft is a sin, gossip is a sin, etc. Only Catholics have “mortal sins” and “venal sins.” In reality sin is sin and only Jesus is perfect.
